Isolated and dreary location. Staff were not very helpful. Could be cleaner. No sink or mirror in the room. Lounge was very gloomy with no TV. On the positive side the manor itself is a beautiful well preserved structure.

A wind-swept Elizabethan manor that is a beautiful and atmospheric getaway for events with friends and communities alike. The shower facilities are top-notch, and the kitchen is plenty adequate for the requirements. Stunning grand hall for fancy dinners, and nerdy D&D getaways like the one I attended. A perfect place to unwind.

Lovely place but the kitchen is tiny. 2 people in and its cramped. No locks on the doors so don't risk valuables in your room. All in all its set in a fabulous location for walkers.

Stayed here on a school trip in the nineties! Very eerie and old place but had a charm! Stayed in the girls dormitory in the attic , very steep steps up to it and we had to be quiet because the manager was staying in the middle floor. Great memories.

Incredibly spacious hostel with a rich history in spectacular grounds with stunning scenery, excellent customer service. Immaculate shower and toilet facilities. Unbelievable value for money. Self-cater or eat in.. your choice.. very flexible.

An amazing National Trust owned manor tucked well out of the way. Due to its age and grade listing, this is somewhat limited in facilities, for example the self-catering kitchen is rather small, but fulfils the requirements. We booked a family suite and were allocated the Cadbury Suite high up in the building. This had an en-suite bathroom, including a roll top bath. There was a four poster double bed and two singles which was a great surprise. The swallows nesting in the main porch were a delight to see flying in and out feeding their chicks.Be aware that there is pretty much no mobile phone signal at this location. There is WiFi available, but can be a little ropey in places. It works best in the communal areas.

Incredible stay at this Hostel meets Medieval Film set. Every stubbed panelled door seem to lead into another discovery. Stairs to the basement room was intriguing. We had a top floor room with great views and leaded windows that rattled in the wind. I remember one bunk room of 16 beds or so empty yet in the night - who said ghost!? Love, like love to go back :)

Oh my WOW!This is definitely one of the greatest places I've visited on my trip around England. And that includes all the heritage tourist attractions that you need to pay to see.The manor is historical! Built in the 16th century and restored in the mid 1900s it became a YHA. It's an incredible place to visit with rolling hills as your view and castle-like features that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time. Even one night at this place is a must!

Beautiful historic building serving as a youth hostel, closed at present due to lockdown but set in lovely countryside perfect for walking. Farming roundabout so follow the Country Code.
