Major's Corner Public Toilets

As far as public toilets go they're not the worst. They're quite outdated now but were somewhat clean.

The staff are not very friendly. You can get a shower here apparently but according to staff only if you are homeless?

Should be better maintained but at least it's free

My bowel movement was spoiled by the graffiti, the spelling and grammar was appalling!

Major's Corner is just about the most central public toilet to be found in Ipswich. Despite being a new build it's a very dated, unimaginative design, with very narrow, blind corner entry/exit. It's main point of interest, (apart from the function it was intended to provide), is the black enamel, 3-part metal sculpture; comprising 2 giant, Beelzebub-sized BLUEBOTTLES on the outside wall, with the figure of 'The Major', (whose Corner it's meant to be) hiding on the roof with a massive swatter! It's an amusing design, but unfortunately at ground level when the adjacent tree is in leaf, it's almost invisible (unless you're so tall to see above the tree that obscures it), so very easily missed, & just begging the question, what's the point to it?As for the actual lavvies, it's just about typical for such places, EXCEPT for having a resident Lavatory Lil' in an on-site kiosk. Despite the constant attention of on-site staff, nothing more than most basic duties; soap dispensers typically EMPTY & although the hot water is working, because the plunger taps are old & get stuck, it soon runs out after a few people have used it. However, I must admit it's always been clean when I've visited, but at least one cubicle is permanently out of order. My only experiences have been when passing by just after it opens; weekdays @ 08:00; (or 10:00 Sundays)

Not sure what the person in the glass office is there for, but 1 thing for sure it ain't cleaning, the place is disgusting
