The Place Bar Restaurant
Disgusting food, children’s sausages and chips was a tiny portion of smash mash and two hard sausages that an adult struggled to cut! The chicken in the chicken burgers were grey and hard to bite couldn’t eat it at all paid £65 for meals and drinks sent all our food back and they would only refund £20 and offered us a round of drinks which we refused as we wanted to get out of their! It’s a dirty, dingy restaurant that we will NOT go back to again!

I have just eaten here, the food used to be fantastic. What a load of rubbish now. They get there chips from the chip shop below. They were not even cooked properly. All I had was egg and chips which they couldn't even get right. Will never eat here again. Just been asked by bar manager if everything was OK, I informed her that the chips from downstairs were not cooked. She said she was sorry and would tell them . If I had known I was going to get chip shop food I should have paid chip shop prices. Chip shop has never been nice, it appears they have taken it over.

The pizza meal deal we ordered was lovely pizza was one of the best I've tasted but the meal deal we ordered was priced up wrong and was costed individually and as wy wife ordered and didn't realised cost us £8 more than advertised

Tired building with an unusual aroma. My Heineken was flat which i switched for a bottle of bottle of Corona which had rust marks around top. I strongly advise if you are going to use the the gents toilet that you enter via the shallow end.

First time in this place, tables are not the cleanest. Ordered chicken buger meal and it was so dry I left it, the cod was OK but they forgot the lemon. The steak was OK, thank god for the sauce.When we ordered drinks, I had to show them how to use the machine because they don't print receipts.Staff are very helpful and quick to correct any mistakes, they didn't tell us where to get our cutlery from or condiments.Would I recommend this place? NO

Lovely, friendly staff. Inside was a little run down and soft drinks served from bottles, rather than the taps, but as its coming to the end of season, absolutely understandable. Food was very nice.

The Place Bar Restaurant
We ate here twice last week whilst on our holidays and the food was lovely, steak was cooked to perfection. The only thing that did bother me slightly was the older small lady serving the meals to the table did not give our party of 4 the chance to finish our meals before coming over to take our plates away. My partner was still eating as she removed his plate, and my son who is 6 still had 3/4's of his meal left as she picked up his plate . I did say he was still eating , but kids being kids he said he was finished , then half hour later when out complaining he was starving again. I'd have preferred she left us alone until we had all finished.

The Place Bar Restaurant
Not quite sure what to make of The Place. I have visited several times over the years and always think the same. Firstly the main attraction; the food, is generally very good (rated 4* accordingly).But the service is rather lackluster. The staff smile when speaking etc but it just comes across as insincere. And there are several silly shortcomings; no wifi, no brown sauce for breakfast, butter knife given out for lamb chops, all daft things easily corrected.And as for the sign at the entrance offering to 'nail your kids to the table', I have a sense of humour and it gave me a chuckle. But to some proud parents this might offend and will be interpreted as 'We are dog friendly but NOT kid friendly"
