Beeston Castle
I can only review it as a person with English heritage membership. It's a really nice place to spend an hour, hour and a half in. Slowly walk up the hill while taking in the view and then see everything around from the top. The ruins are pretty incredible when you think how old they are, but there isn't a lot of it left. They also have a pretty nice hut reconstruction in the forest, but you won't spend there a lot of time.I think that for the price of the ticket the place is a bit underwhelming. But for a member it's a nice Sunday stroll spot.

Mostly ruined but fascinating medieval castle set over different levels. The views from the top are beautiful, you can literally see for miles around. Nice little gift shop with ancient artifacts (medieval and also much older) and information boards. The bronze age roundhouse reconstruction is brilliant.

Great castle. Just be mindful that the walk up is very steep. The stone age house was amazing and is worth a visit just in its self. The volunteer in the stone house was lovely and so welcoming, was just a shame regarding the staff in the shop/entrance (one woman in particular was miserable and come across rude). We spent a good couple of hours here. Car park is free for members or £3 for non members. Once at the top of the castle you can see most of Chester! Will happily return in the future.

Beeston Castle is a fantastic place to visit for a few hours. While there isn't much of the castle left, the breathtaking views and additional attractions like the roundhouse and caves at the bottom of the hill make it worthwhile. The walk up the hill is a great workout and good walk. The site is well-preserved and there's a small gift shop/museum and a sizable car park, free for member and with charges for non-members. Don't miss this historical and scenic gem!

I got there close to the closing time so I only spent 1/2 an hour to an hour there. But the view at the top was breathtaking. You could see for miles! The only bad thing was the amount of flies in some areas when walking up to the top of the castle. There were lots of squirrels in the trees and two crows that seemed to be dancing together in the sky (they definitely weren’t fighting) which was a nice touch to the historical scene.

Fascinating place. Recommend chatting with the ticket counter staff and reading the displays in the visitor centre first to get some context and understanding of how important this castle was to area, before taking the walk up to the castle (where you will be rewarded with some incredible views!) If you have time also recommend walking the surrounding hill circuit too before you leave the grounds. A worthwhile visit for all ages.

It is a fantastic castle that offers views across the countryside. Becareful driving down the roads to the castle as they are narrow and a bit blind. There is plenty of room in the pay and display carpark, although free for English Heritage members. Nice little shop and museum of the castle and helpful staff. Best get a guidebook as there are no information boards around the site. The walk up to the top is mostly grass, and there are a few mudy paths if wet and a few steps. The bridge into the top may be a bit much for some but worth it for the view. Plenty areas for kids to burn energy. Nice roundhouse to explore with a guide on hand. Cafe and toilets on hand

Quite far away from public transport and had to cycle from crewe but it is a very big area. The main castle ruins are on top of a hill which takes around 10 minutes to go up. There’s information boards around the site. The staff are nice and allowed me to park the my bike within the grounds. There’s a small cafe and a lot of benches and tables for picnic and eat your own food. Great experience but hope there will be more options for public transport to this site.

Ruined castle on a hilltop with fantastic views and hidden attractions. From the entrance building, it's an uphill walk to the castle, crossing over a dramatic bridge at the top. It's well worth the effort, as you're rewarded with a 360 degree panoramic vista. On a clear day it's possible to see 8 counties, looking west to the mountains of North Wales, and east to the Peak District. In the inner bailey, look out for the well, which is one of the deepest in any English castle at over 300 feet deep. There's more to look at in the lower grounds, including a recreated Bronze Age roundhouse, and sandstone caves (closed off, but you can still get a glimpse inside through the railings).Facilities include a parking area with a café across the road from the castle, and a gift shop and toilets on site. The castle and grounds are dog friendly. The parking area was getting full by early afternoon in peak season, so it's worth arriving early to beat the crowds.Opening times are 10:00 - 17:00, adult tickets are £10 and child tickets £5.90.
