Don't be put off by the shop front or decor.2 adults and 2 kids fed and watered for £24!! Delicious food and very friendly waiting staff.I know where to go next time we're in Newton Stewart.

stopped by for a quick breakfast, and was not disappointed at all! quaint and homely restaurant, very reasonably priced. only grouse is that the waitress didn't hang around much in the dining area so it was a little difficult to get her attention when we wanted to call for the bill.

Nice place but my husband and I ordered 2 large fish and 1 small fish when we got them all the fish looked exactly the same size small. When I asked if they were all small I was told it was done by weight but they looked the same not worth £5 More each shame as we are local. I Have been in and had soup and the fish on people's plates were hanging over the plate.

The food is top notch but it would be better if the meals such as currys and beef chilli garlic or anything with a sauce should be put into a container with a lid as it doesn't matter how careful you are the box gets covered and it makes for a messy eat .

My wife and i visited Newton Stewart for 5 days.Stayed at Machermore castle. Tried a few places but The Scent o Galloway has the best food,the best service and the fairest prices in the whole of Scotland.Steak pie is amazing. All day breakfast is out of this world. Desserts are delicious. Anyone visiting Newton Stewart should try this lovely restaurant.I will certainly be back next time we are in the area

Really sad to put this however the grade of food has went down hill. Really disappointed I ordered macaroni cheese which previously was thee best mac and cheese I ever had is now just macaroni pasta with grated cheese on top sitting in a cm deep of oil. I went back and the lady was lovely and happy to refund my money. Really hope it gets seen to and rectified asap.

We asked for a table for two. Waitress said there was one. We sat for 20 minutes without anyone asking for our order. Even although the waitress engaged in conversation with 4 other tables. Very disappointed. So we walked out.

11am ordered a bacon onion & cheese pannini waited 20 mins and when i eventually got it it was cold. Pannini wasnt toasted cheese was grated but not melted & onion was raw 2 bites & it went to the bucket. I also didnt appreciate the bit of limp salad crammed into the box which i had not ordered or wanted fair enough if your sitting in its nice to garnish plates but defo not for a carry out b/fast order!

Worst breakfast in town, half a piece of slice,2 mushrooms, tub of beans with no lid so ends up everywhere low quality food,now back cooking breakfast as even kids won't eat it
