A beautiful place with great views over Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales. We went for a wild swim and the water was a good temperature (it was a warm July day). However don't expect crystal clear water!

Great walk for the dogs with miles of open space and a fair sized lake. View is fantastic on a clear day you can see for miles. There can be sheep wandering around so need to be careful with your dogs if they like to chase, also spotted a few deer on my way up.

Oddly enough I didn’t even know this reservoir was here despite the fact that I have surmounted winter hill on numerous occasions. This was a welcome addition to my walk. It is approximately ten minutes off the path to winter hill but well worth the diversion. It is so calm and peaceful- indeed I only had a solitary duck for company! I will definitely revisit this hidden gem! Plus you can walk around it and it would take about 15 minutes

Such a quiet spot to sit and listen to silence!Only a short track from the main road and easy to then carry on to Winter Hill or the other way from Walker Folds car park.
