Spooks of Haworth

I was so looking forward to heading to spooks today. Went a few years ago and it was really welcoming. Was expecting to spend a fortune, was really disappointed. The lady behind the counter was on her phone, she didn’t even acknowledge us. The shop has lots of interesting books and cards but no energy.. totally flat and miserable. May as well have been in the local off licence.The books are all wrapped in cling wrap... so unwelcoming and certainly wouldn’t recommend. What a shame.

I hadn’t been in this shop for over 30 years. It was somewhere I was lucky enough to visit, annually as a child. I now have my own son and wanted to show him the shop, but at the same time, I was nervous because so many happy memories from our childhoods, shatter when we go back. I didn’t want the shop to disappoint me, after I loved it so much as a child. Today, I nervously took us in, and from the moment you step over the threshold, this shop still has the magic that it had all those years ago. The shop itself welcomes you. There is so much to look at, no wonder I used to spend hours in here, looking around! The shop is just how I remember it, and today I was able to buy my son, a precious necklace from the cabinet, that I had wished for every time I came to visit the shop as a child, but was never lucky enough to get it. To give this gift to my son today, well I can’t find the words.There was one big difference though, and that was that the special old wizard man, who used to run the shop wasn’t there to greet me, like he did year after year. Why would he be? He was in his retirement 35 years ago, so that would be a miracle! But in his place, was a lady who had just as welcoming smile as “the old wizard man”The shop is well loved and I’m so glad we crossed the threshold today. Thank you for the amazing memories, being able to share my experience with my son, I something I shall never forget.See you again one day x

Lovely little place, the staff seemed very friendly and polite. I didn't buy anything at the time, but after having a look i will be going back in to pick up a few things up. There is also a palm reading downstairs but i believe you need an appointment.

What a fantastic place. If you have a craving for finding out about yourself. Here's the place!!. I had my palms read today, the girl with the artwork, absolutely nailed every line on my palm.

What an absolutely fantastic shop. Great staff, Great service, Great prices!!!Its an absolute delight to speak with the staff who are always happy to advise and give further information on products. They know their stock well! A very small shop that offers a huge amount of books, decks, crystals, incense, jewellery and all kinds of beautiful and obscure knick knacks. The selection is through the roof! A great atmosphere. The energy is welcoming and cosy. I can't wait to visit again!

Lovely witches, tarot card and gemstone shop that do readings. Great selection of hard to find books. If you're looking for rares then you'll love it here.Only open on Saturday and Sunday but well worth a visit.

PARENTS BEWARE, this shop is NOT child friendly. I’m appalled at the customer service or more like the lack of decency from the staff at this shop.If you plan to head to this shop leave your children at home otherwise you’ll be refused entry just like I was. We were in the area on holiday and had been told Spooks was a good place to go for specialist books so imagine my disgust at when trying to enter the shop with my 10month old son and it’s raining to be met at the door by one of the assistants with customers staring at us, refusing me entry because the aisles weren’t wide enough for my sons push chair when clearly looking behind her they were more than wide enough.The pushchair wasn’t large and I would have been happy to have left it near the counter if asked but never was. It’s no skin of my nose as the considerable money I had saved to spend there was spent online elsewhere at more affordable prices.Can promise I won’t be back and nor will I be recommending you to anyone.

This shop is a lasting memory of my trips to Haworth as a kid......That and the steep main street. If you have an interest in divination, Wicca, other forms of magic and spirituality it is the place to go. Everything under one roof even for those seeking an understanding of the left hand path..

Omg. What a collection of cool stuff. Good selection of books and the biggest collection of tarot cards I've ever seen! Lots of very beautiful handmade items from local makers and tarot readings and reiki available. The staff are just lovely and I felt like I was a welcome guest in an aunties house. Beautiful shop and energy, in every way.
