I am the yard manager at Hough’s Livery Yard and have worked here ever since it opened. I have watched Karen and Chris build this amazing yard and put their heart and soul into making it the great place it is today. As a team, we go above and beyond to look after our clients and horses and make our yard a safe space. We bend over backwards to try and accommodate everyones wants and needs to the best of our abilities. Unfortunately, as with every business, pleasing everyone is not always possible. People not suited to our yard are those who neglect their horses, refuse to maintain and clean up after themselves or those who dont pay their bills. We are a thriving business with long standing clients along with a waiting list for spaces which speaks for itself. It saddens me that forums allow reviews that contain lies that are completely untrue. Reviews that attack the business and only aids in the harassment of the yard owner. I am proud to be associated with Hough’s Livery Yard and love working for the Hough’s!

Horsey heaven!! Wow what a fantastic yard ran by amazing owners that treat every horse as their own! I have had my 3 horses here for 18 months now and I couldn’t be any happier. Karen and her team are always on hand to make sure your horse has the best and to make our life as liveries as easy as it can be. They go above and beyond! My youngest horse is only 4 and I hope this will be where he retires in his old age too.

From the onset, the yard looks nice, good facilities and clean that is until you find out it is run like a military base constant messages to tidy, clean up with pictures to name and shame.We were told any problems with horses not getting on could be sorted and horses were horses and there were options. This is not the case. Our small 14.2 pony  was put in a pen with a big shod horse and we were told she was fine. I arrived to hear her screaming after being kicked in the shoulder..we asked for her to be taken out of the pen as too small for her to get away..this was done only to be re introduced to same horse in spring that continued kicking out and herding her in a big field. The yard manager and owner were prepared to do nothing.As well as kicking us..we were unable to go near our pony in the field as this made her worse.  When we asked for the field to be split, I was told I was blinded by love for my horse and they needed to learn  to live harmoniously.We are now left with a vet bill for getting a haematoma drained and have moved our horse to safety on another yard.Such a shame as the liveries on the yard are lovely all be it, scared to say anything to upset the owner for fear of a long winded essay, as told by people on the yard when we were there and I was getting upset by the bullying. We know we aren't alone ..  we have since found out, many others have left Houghs due to bullying from Karen the owner.After almost 6 months of leaving we are still finding out that a grown adult is slagging off a young girl and a pony, making my horse out to be the devil to cover her own back in a situation she caused that resulted in my horse needing veterinary treatment.She is a disgrace be warned.

My horses have been on this yard for many years, both horses have had their issues and the support I have received from Karen has been next to none. My horses are happy, content, given the best care and are living their best lives. Not only do the horses receive 5 star care so too do we the liveries. Karen also provides fantastic events throughout the year that we enjoy taking part in as a yard family. I could not ask for a better yard for my horses and my family to be part of.

Been at houghs for 18 months and can honestly say that it’s the best yard ever! All horses are happy and are living a life of luxury. The yard management are so passionate and each horses well being is always their top priority. Everyone on the yard is lovely and supportive of each other. Honestly wouldn’t want to keep them anywhere else!

Wonderful yard. Immaculately kept with great facilities. Our pony settled here straight away and has had the best care. Lovely family environment. Karen and her team go above and beyond for both horses and owners.

Having owned my horse for 22 years ( from him being 4 years old ) 4 years ago when moving I was looking for a yard that could give him 5 star care and facilities in his older days, I wanted to find his forever home that he could retire happily at and for me to know he had the best care around.That is exactly what I found when moving to Houghs. Karen and Stephen ( yard manager ) from day one looked after him like he was their own, while he was on full livery 5 days a week. Nothing was too much and they knew my boys individual personality, his likes and dislikes and accommodated all of these as well as showing him love and affection dailyKaren always put his needs first, always taking in to consideration that at the age of 25 my boy just wanted a quiet, happy life and again he had just that at Houghs. With the amazing facilities and consideration ALWAYS from Karen he lived out his older days “ being a horse “ always happy and content and loving his retired life. Wanting for nothingWhen recently having to say goodbye to my boy the care from Stephen and Karen didn’t stop. They supported myself and my boy until the very very end, proving the kind, caring natured people they are and AGAIN going above and beyond. I can now feel reassured that I gave my boy the best care in his final years and that was with the help and support from everyone at Houghs. It’s a family and a team not just “ a yard “

You are a lier and the funniest thing is that you actually believe your own lies.Our horse was put in a pen with another and I arrived on the yard one evening to hear her screaming. Even the owner of the other horse knew what had happened and came to check ours was ok.Our horse was then put in a field for the rest of winter as there were no more pens not segregated as you put it.You then introduced her once ( not several times) to a pack in which our horse came out with a massive lump on her thigh that nobody saw happen but yet ours was the aggressive one.You then put her in a field with the same horse which you later admitted you saw kick ours in the group field.We left because after asking you to split the field as myself my husband and our horse were getting kicked out at by the other horse as over protective of ours, your response was they needed to live harmoniously together. No concern what so ever for our safety.Our horse does not need behavioural therapy.  What a ridiculous thing to suggest. You even took videos of her grooming another horse and sent to us. Your voice is clearly in the background saying what a good girl she is.My daughter does not need help. It is you that needs the help. We have only ever left places because we have chosen to . There is no history as you put it. You are now just making things up because a young girl has called you out on something many others have experienced on your yard but have been too upset to say anything.We are more than happy to move on and have done but you seem to be unable to and still continue to make up lies which you feel the need to spread. Leave us alone and we will quite happily leave you to your 5 star facilities  ..
