Had my first cataract done on Thurs 13 Jan. Fantastic service from walking through the door to leaving the premises. All of the staff are friendly and attentive and certainly seem to know their stuff. On waking up the following day I couldn't believe the difference in my vision... its like having a new eye. There was no pain and didn't even need paracetamol the following day. Thank you so much and can't wait to get my second eye done ! Pete

Fantastic experience from initial tests to the actual surgery. Lovely staff, very modern facility, great after surgery advice, job well done, cant wait to have the cataract in my other eye removed too, would highly recommend Spamedica.

Avoid at all costs if you require complex cataract surgery. I have had left congenital cataract removed at age 47. Surgery went ok but complications developed after 3 months, which led to 7 weeks on sick leave, horrendous, debilitating pain, both asleep and awake and an inability to function. Attended multiple appts with SM as a result, who could not get to the bottom of the pain, or any relief. I ended up taking myself to the emergency eye care department at a major Newcastle hospital who now have me on multiple prescriptions and now under the care of a consultant. Never had issues AT ALL prior to surgery. Complaint raised with SM, who still cannot give me a definitive answer as to why or how this got so bad that I lost 7 weeks earnings, 3 months after surgery. Would not recommend - to anyone. After care lacking. No faith.

Excellent service: after only a month from seeing the optician to the op to remove the cataract. All staff were helpful, reassuring and caring and the op was amazingly quick. 24 hours later I can see clearly (no blur). Brilliant. Thanks for everything.

Just recently had a cataract removed and I have to say there's nothing to worry about, The staff are absolutely brilliant and looked after me from start to finish, Thank you SparMedica.

It went wrong from the beginning after 2 hours preparation was told to come back next day as no size lense recorded. Following day eventually in surgery surgeon said having difficulty putting lense in place prodded and poked but said she'd managed. 14 months later eye still sore and discomfort eye sight worse than it was before , optician says eye has lesions on it . I regret having the surgery , worse off than before .

To say I was terrified of cataract surgery was an understatement but I needn't have worried. From reception to nurses to surgeon, everyone was welcoming and kind. Every step of the way was explained and I was made to feel at ease and comfortable. The operation was painless and much quicker than I imagined. I was well looked after and am very grateful for their kindness and consideration. The hospital was scrupulosly clean. Tea coffee and biscuits were available. I would certainly recommend Spa Medica Stockton and if I have to have the other eye done I would not hesitate.

My husband had cataract surgery here and was very impressed with the splendid service provided by both clinical and non clinical staff.A special mention to John the porter who went over and above to welcome us on both visits to the clinic. Highly recommended.
