Brilliant gem, volunteers are hard working and welcomed us when we arrived close to closing time. Such a vast knowledge of local history and an incredible place to explore. Beautifully restored vessels and amazing scale models. Visit here and leave a donation to keep Sunderlands rich maritime history alive.

A great charity organisation trying to save Sunderlands huge maritime heritage. The small museum is packed with artefacts and the people there are happy to fully explain everything. I really hope they do well as in Sunderland so much history has been lost to redevelopment.Houses the biggest 19tg century Navy Sailing ship of the line model I have ever seen at over 23ft long. A must see!

Sunderland Maritine Heritage Centre is a must-visit heritage location. The staff here are knowledgeable and helpful, and they are genuinely happy to show visitors around.The 1/10th scale model of the original HMS Venerable is a masterpiece, well worth taking time to study in detail.Free parking is available nearby.

Most interesting museum and ship workshop in Sunderland. Lots of maritime history, detailed local maritime stories and history. Fantastic skilled ship and building models. Great local guide.

Sunderland's maritime heritage centre open Monday, Wednesday, Friday , 10.00 am to 4 pm. Restoring a little ship from Dunkirk and making a tenth scale model of a 74 gun man of war the HMS Venerable. Keeping the maritime history of Sunderland alive.
