There is always a fabulous, warm welcome when you arrive at Wharton Lodge . Nicky and George are wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Thay left me a Birthday present and card, a lovely touch. Thank you. In these strange and difficult times its importance to go somewhere, where you feel safe and this is a very safe place. We weren’t sure what to expect from “5 star” self catering but we’re certainly we’re not disappointed! Beautiful accommodation; traditional yet modern, well equipped and set in delightful, well-tended grounds. Nicky (and George) were attentive but never intrusive hosts and made us fee very welcome. They have plenty of local knowledge to do ensure you have access to everything you need whether you’re looking escape or go on adventures (and this is a great base from which to explore both sides of the border with walks, historic sites and beautiful towns and villages). Covid precautions were also well managed at this challenging time. We felt very safe and cared for.The dogs are an added bonus!When we left a set of car keys at the property, Nicky went above and beyond to ensure we were reunited with them.Would happily return and certainly recommend.

The Cottages are just off the main A40 road between Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester, so there is easy road access to all the major tourist destinations in the area. The cottages are ideally located to explore the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley in particular.The Cottages are beautifully appointed and luxurious with all the mod cons - and the welcome basket of foodstuffs is a particularly nice touch.It is very peaceful and quiet, with lovely gardens to explore, and stunning views out across the countryside.The owner, Nicky, is very helpful and friendly, both before the stay with any visitor queries, and during the stay; she is also extremely knowledgeable about the local area, and has lots of excellent advice on places to visit, or where to eat.All in all, a perfect place to stay, and one we would thoroughly recommend.

Had a superb week at Wharton Lodge Cottages. The cottage was perfect, the gardens and surroundings are wonderful. The owners are really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic holiday. It really is 5 star: cottages are spotless and have everything you could need (to a high spec), so it feels more like a hotel suite. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful that it was like a retreat! We don't usually stay in cottages where the owners are on site, but Nicky and George are wonderful hosts: your privacy is respected and they are so incredibly helpful with suggested activities, places to visit and they go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable and memorable (the fantastic hamper, plus we stayed during Halloween and the cottage had a little decoration and our child was given a treat!). The dogs were equally welcoming and kind! Hope to return next year.

We can honestly say that our stay at Wharton has been the simply the best ever self catering holiday ever. Harewood was sparkling clean, cosy and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble for Nicky and George, they were simply a delight. In these 'difficult' times we'd have no hesitation whatsoever in returning to this lovely part of the UK to stay once again at Wharton Lodge. Those 5* reviews don't exaggerate!
