Fountains Hall

This is the Hall that was built after the dissolution of the abbey. Some of it is still lived in but a lot of the bottom floor is open and you can see exhibitions about the whole estate. At one point, it was not the main hall in the estate but its successor, Studley Hall, was destroyed in a fire so the original hall remains. It has appeared on TV as well for exterior scenes.

Really nice old hall with beautiful grounds. We stayed in the national trust apartment in Fountains Hall. Doesnt cost much more than a premier Inn if you divide it by 3 people and right in the grounds within yards of the Abbey. Access to all the amazing grounds and the Abbey after the public go home.Nearby, there's lots to do even in February when you would think most attractions would be closed. There are 2 National Trust flats in Fountains Hall and other, larger cottages dotted about the grounds of the Abbey. The Abbey mill is fascinating and full of informative displays and demonstrations.Contrary to what you may think, Fountains Hall isn't built from the ruins of the Abbey - just the odd bit here and there! There only seemed to be a few rooms open to the public at the hall - all on the ground floor. In one room the children (and the adults) can dress up and play lord of the manor.

Fabulous day out for all the family! A full day out, so take your time to get around and see all the sights.

A great place to rent a holiday flat. Loads to do nearby.

The hall is one of the reasons why the abbey is now a ruin, being built with stone appropriated from the site. It contains a very poignant memorial.

There is some good displays on the history of the park and the hall. There was only stairs to get in so may not be good for people with limited mobility.

Beautiful period building which can be paid to enter as an added extra on your day visit. A grand entrance opens into a welcoming hall which also has a great armed forces memorial relating to the world wars. A little small compared to a grand period mansion but worth a visit.

Amazing and extensive ruins. Allow plenty of time. Coffee shop short on pies and such at 2 o'clock.

Have been to Fountains Abbey many times but never noticed the Hall. Went in and found it very interesting. Not all that much to see but what there is was fascinating.
