Earl's Eye Meadows
Peaceful and pleasant place to walk, run or just to sit, to enjoy nature.

I've done this beautiful walk a few times on visits to Chester. You can reach it by crossing the Queen's Park suspension bridge, then turning left and following the riverside path till you come to the entrance gate. It's easy walking, along level gravel paths across a large area of meadow full of lovely wildflowers. A good place to spot butterflies and birds, and watch the boats on the river. Seems very popular with dog walkers. Great views of the impressive houses and terraced gardens on the opposite bank. Cattle graze here and are seen going down to the river to drink but I've not been lucky enough to see them! There are benches at intervals along the path, and a ferry service across the river at weekends and bank holidays in the summer. A lovely place to relax and appreciate nature just a stone's throw from the city centre.

This is a historical natural area in an area where the river Dee takes a turn. It is interesting to access it through the queen's bridge. It is not very interesting otherwise.
