Tucked in the basement of the unassuming Mongol Center is a hidden gem known as the Mongolian Kitchen. I might be exposing a secret kept by the Mongolian community in London, but thought I'd share this special find anyways.This is THE place where you can get truly authentic homemade Mongolian food in London, unlike the Mongolian restaurants you find scattered across town serving large portions of Chinese stir fry marketed to unaware customers as 'Mongolian BBQ'. The only thing remotely close to Mongolian food is the large portions.The Mongolian Kitchen is run by Tunga, who lovingly prepares traditional home-cooked dishes. For those who have travelled to Mongolia, you'll be re-living the same type of food and hospitality as you experienced in the steppes. For those who haven't been, it's a great way to have a truly authentic Mongolian meal and experience the same hospital as if you were in a ger out in the steppes.Advance notice is required as its a tiny kitchen, often jammed packed with expat Mongolians and operates on irregular hours, so make sure you ring up before heading to the kitchen.
