I took my Mom here for her birthday dinner while visiting Edinburgh. great atmosphere, but we liked the food better at The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant at the Gardens Entrance of the Scottish National Gallery.

Quite a bit overpriced in my opinion. The sausage and beans were not my favourite - way too much spaces and for the price tag of £24 very much a ripoff. The mozzarella is literally mozzarella ball and a few cherry tomatoes cut in half - for from caprese salad - literally you open a pack of mozzarella and cut 5 cherry tomatoes in half - 20 sec no more. Panettone (almond and rum) was actually nice but also very heavily overpriced. Service was very great!

We had booked a private room for our team Christmas party. The booking process was really good and Eilish and Stephanie had both been really helpful to make sure we had everything we needed and when there were any questions or changes it was easily dealt with.On the night Natasha was incredibly attentive and always on hand to make sure we felt comfortable and relaxed within our private room. The food was really tasty and all served promptly, including making sure our colleague with dietary requirements were well catered for. Our Sicilian colleague was very happy with both the food and drink, which we all saw as really good. Well done to everyone for making our evening special and we look forward to returning in the future. Personally I've been to the restaurant a number of times for work, but also been to both the Scottish Cafe and Cannonball at the Castle. Thanks as always

Good atmosphere with amazing food! Home made focaccia and contadino are really impressive.

This restaurant is wonderfully decorated with European artwork that makes you feel a part of something historically significant. I guess that would be an age old indulgence of good quality food known to this region. In terms of food, the dishes we ordered were fantastic to look at and delicious. Service by our waitress, Naomi, was phenomenal despite the hectic state of the restaurant. Thank you Naomi. Do the flavors scream for a return? Most definitely!

Beautiful restaurant with high rise ceilings. Food was great. The waiter was very friendly and knew the menu, she could recommend really good wine. Unfortunately the table seating is those UShaped seats, very inconvenient when you sitting in the middle. Everyone must stand when you need to use the toilets. And no place to hang out coats and bags. Other than that the place was good and great atmosphere. Also a bit pricy, but worth it

This was our second visit to Contini, our first visit was awesome, great food and service hence the second visit to celebrate my birthday.Unfortunately the return visit today was disappointing, we had pre booked the table for two yet was asked how many was in our party! The starter of mackerel was tasteless and my piece of lemon had been already been squeezed so not sure if they are recycling Lemons! Our glasses of Prosecco were served in white wine glasses, overall I’d say this restaurant has lost a bit of its wow factor, on our previous visit we were impressed with the fresh ingredients, lemons, tomatoes, not sure if we were unlucky with the chef on the day, I doubt it as the starter came out in about 30 secs so was already made up! I just got the impression that there is not the care within the staff, just going through the motions and that would perhaps explain what the kitchen served up. It was not deserving of a quality Italian restaurant.

A nice date, much anticipated, however ultimately left disappointed. The dishes were not worth the price. I was a little underwhelmed. The venue was nice inside and most of the staff were friendly. But yeah, unfortunately just really disappointed in the food. The tiramisu barely tasted of anything. I tried my partners Gnocchi in tomato sauce, I thought that was bound to be a winner, and they even managed to make that pretty boring and tasteless. A real shame. Also was told the pints of beer were pints. They were definitely not pints, more like 330ml. For £6 that’s quite bad.
