Finding a place gets really difficult, especially as a new immigrant. I am thankful for letting agents like Hannah who are able to provide help and be supportive while going about their duties. It seems so little sometimes, but it does go a long way in my books!

My experience with the Martin & Co agents was disastrous. Just graduated and about to start my postgrad course in Birmingham so needed to find a one bed apartment. My friend recommended them since she got her one bed through them so I started my search there.Their communication is so terrible! Dan was the agent sending me properties and apparently responsible for sending offers. I found a property I loved and booking a viewing was a headache. Before I left the property I informed the agent that I wanted it. I knew being a student would affect my chances so I made sure I let him know I would pay rent in advance so I wouldn’t need a guarantor etc. He said I should call the office so they send me an offer form to complete and I did that. Submitted the form before the end of day. Had to chase them for updates on the status of my offer. I would call and they’d tell me Dan wasn’t available or he isn’t at work. I found out from another agent that they gave the property to someone else. I had to hear it from Dan cause I couldn’t believe it. Dan sent me an email saying I should call him about the offer. I called they said he’s on another call. So frustrating! Eventually he sent an email saying my offer wasn’t accepted.I was really upset but I still gave them a chance. Saw another property I liked and booked a viewing for it. I thought maybe I filled the form incorrectly or something so I made sure to state my situation in the form. Gave my current landlord’s contact details cause I’m a great tenant and he’d easily confirm I can pay rent in advance. Had to call them twice to get the offer form and still didn’t get the property for whatever reason.Morale of the story:If you’re a post grad student and looking for a place in Birmingham I recommend the Fleet Milne agents. Fortunately I got a property in the same place with so much ease. After my viewing I told the agent my situation and he sent the offer form immediately. Their offer form was electronic (not a copy and paste email) and it had options like pay rent upfront for people like me. I will be moving into my desired property soon!Martin & Co shame on you for the horrible service!

Canaan was phenomenal- he understood what I was looking for after 1 phonecard and advised me accordingly of the properties that would fit my needs or not. This saved me a lot of time. He was also friendly and went above and beyond - stellar customer service. Thank you

He has been lovely, caring, attentive and very considerate towards me having to commute from London to Birmingham. His transparency has always helped with this and I will be forever grateful to him!

I am more then satisfied with the outstanding service I received, Canaan was extremely patient with me and worked his hardest to get me secured on my ideal property. He had great knowledge of the area and the local amenities. I would definitely recommend Martin & CO’s services to my colleagues and friends wanting to move into Birmingham city centre.

Appalling service. Rented through them for just over a year and deeply regret giving them a penny of my money.From the get-go I was not given all necessary information to begin tenancy such as access codes as they failed to disclose the regular burglaries within the building. I was without hot water for the first 12 days, despite reporting this to the property manager Debbie Harper repeatedly. She refused to arrange a contractor until I threatened with legal action, at which point I found out they had even contacted the previous tenant to see whether they had issues! Finally a plumber came and after assessment confirmed the thermostat in the boiler was not working.Debbie was always unfriendly and unprofessional. At one point in the tenancy the wind ripped the bedroom window off its hinges. I called Debbie and was told it was my fault for removing the window stoppers, a point she argued even when I explained they had never been attached during my tenancy. This was the general attitude - that everything is the fault of the tenant. She would be intentionally obstructive and I would avoid interaction with Martin & Co at all costs because of this.At the end of my tenancy, I was without a washing machine for 6 weeks. I'd reported this directly to the landlord and then to Martin & Co thinking it would be resolved faster. I was incorrect in thinking this and the problem was not resolved during my stay.Upon moving out, I did not receive any information about the refund of my deposit until asked, at which point Debbie told me the landlord was witholding it. I spoke directly to the landlord who informed me that the deposit was held legally with Martin & Co and that he was unaware of any delay, so this was a complete lie from Debbie who had not done her job correctly. It is now 3 months after I have left the property and I am still awaiting deposit refund. I have been told they are deducting £95 from the deposit but have been given no breakdown of costs detailing what this is for.TLDR; AVOID this company at all costs. Money grabbing and unprofessional.

Liberty showed me round one of Martin& Cos properties back in July and she was great. She knew everything about the property, and was able to answer all questions! Can’t fault the experience and it’s exactly what you want when viewing! Everything else ran smoothly too when it came to organise renting, everything moved fast which was great for us
