The Spa at South Lodge

THE BEST SPA HOTEL EVER! I recommend it all day long (and I know what I’m talking about, when it comes to SPA). Amazing facilities, outside whirlpool is the best. Great food and incredible service - they practically never say ‘no’ to you. If you can afford it - go for it!

Great experience with amazing botanical restaurant & spa facilities! perfect for weekend gate aways & they have natural pond! Also the botanical restaurant is dairy free & vegetarian/vegan options.

The stay was mostly fine. The room was large and clean, we had some problems though with the steam room/shower and tiles coming up. Which was a bit of a problem and very sore under foot when a rogue tile was found!! Our first meal was absolutely delicious!! We did the upgrade thing for the steak...and it was everything you could want and more. The children are their kids meals with little complaint although the next night we did ask for the chips to come without the seasoning. At both dinner times for the kids something was missing from the menu. Service flip flopped between at times a little inattentive and occasionally a little rattled or sarcastic, and others too enthusiastic and in our faces. I think the hotel would benefit by having child size juices at a more appropriate price. No kid needs half a pint of juice at £4.50!! The spa...ok...so now we are talking. The splash times were a little inconvenient I felt, especially the morning one, but we made it work and the family room worked like a treat. The facilities and pool were phenomenal. I was told I couldn't use the hair straighteners with my 6 year old with me as we were out of the allotted splash time, which after my husband told me was not the case. It did seem a bit mean, she'd of just sat there colouring while I did my hair!! Afternoon tea was lovely, very filling and felt very luxurious. We had an adventure walk around the grounds and it was so beautiful, we were very lucky with our stay and the weather. The nearest lift to our room wasn't working and there was no mention or apologies about this. I think they'd do better to own their mistakes (like the case of the flying and then missing hummus!!) and be more vocal when things go wrong. Customers see and hear more than they realise. I mentioned most/if not all of this when checking out and the chap was kind and went through our bill and matched the service we had with some money off our service bill. Overall it was a nice stay and we would likely stay again.

Could not fault it. Not only is it a gorgeous spa with sumptuous restaurants, bars and rooms, but every single staff member without exception went over and above in the kindest, loveliest ways. Simply luxuriously perfect. Thank you.

Another fantastic stay this time with my husband but without our children and it surpassed all expectations from our previous visit. We received another warm welcome from reception. They are professional, attentive and friendly. Just what you need to make you feel at home. Our room was spacious, very clean, had a 4 poster bed and our bathroom had double baths. Our last one had a jacuzzi so they’re all special and not your standard rooms. We were able to enjoy all the restaurants and it did not disappoint one little bit. All the meals were cooked to perfection, generous portions and delicious. Breakfast was very good, and all cooked fresh including the pastries. Room service was also great with lots to choose from and it arrived within 30 minutes. The spa was lovely, lots to do and all the treatment rooms were working. You are provided robes, towels and flip flops (which you can keep). I could of stayed in the outdoor heated pool all day. It’s large enough it doesn’t get over crowded and has a beautiful view of the grounds plus it gets the sun all day. The natural pond is a nice surprise and was popular if you like a cold swim. Service by the spa was wonderful, the team are so attentive and the cocktails were perfectly made. You’re provided with a vase in your room to pick flowers, they have so many beautiful ones to choose from. Such a great idea we then took them home . We loved every minute, I would recommend this hotel to couples, families and girlfriends organising spa days. It has something for everyone and is set in the perfect location.

We visited the restaurant, with stunning views, a lovely atmosphere, and very good food. Excellent for gluten free, various foods were ordered for a light lunch. Everything was very tasty and well cooked, good quality ingredients were used. Definitely on the fancy side. But actually reasonable prices. And portion sizes were also reasonable.Cold brew coffee shake thing was amazing. Also the Matcha.Bloody Mary chips are addictive.I would be very happy to visit again.

Amazing place! We unfortunately had our flight cancelled and called them very last minute to see if there was space for us to stay as we were meant to be going on honeymoon. Tarik was warm welcoming and they could have not looked after us better, arriving to a handwritten note with our new names on, made us so excited and a really special experience. Finally 5 star service as I got my necklace caught in the safe and Mark rescued it! I am sure we will be visiting again!

Facilities and service all excellent. Good range of hot rooms. Lovely pool. Wonderful massage. Good food although pricey.Only downsides are cost and lack of signage from car park to spa...we got drenched by walking the wrong way!

Amazing experience! We booked the couples package and spent the whole day at the spa. Massage and mud room experience were fantastic. Had lunch at Botanica - plenty of lighter options, really very good food. Great pool and gym facilities. We loved the large hot tub/pool and of course the natural outdoor pool. We came away feeling energized and rejuvenated. Thank you!
