Reviews are giving this perfectly decent public course a bad rap, and fair enough maybe it used to be better, but it's still a nice mature parkland course, greens were fine for the time of year and fairways well kept up. There are some temporary greens at present and one (14th I think) was a bit ropey but that's life, for 30 quid for a weekend round I don't think that's a big issue. Cups could do with refreshing on some greens. Good coffee at the clubhouse.

Had numerous windows smashed including 3 greenhouse panes of glass and they don’t want to know!! They refuse to pay for damages! Golf ball hit my car last week as well. No good for neighbours as you refuse any responsibility

Poor maintenance of the course overall. Also a poorly laid out course, would not recommend go to Diss instead

Have been a member here for about 8 years. I have seen some improvement since joining but sadly due to the present owner things have started to deteriorate. Money is spent on extending and improving the Hotel, but the golf course is now playing second fiddle to the hotel. Also the planned addition of lodges on the course have caused the moving of four holes and the subsequent upheaval to the course is necessary but has ruined what was a good course, particularly the 15th which is just an absolute mess. Some of the tee boxes had been refurbished but others remain in a sorry state. It’s a shame to see what was becoming a lovely golf course being left to rot . So if you want to stay at a hotel that is well equipped for Spa and exercise facilities it’s the one for you but if you are a golfer you will be disappointed!

First time i uave played here and it was not a bad course with some holes that have water and will make you play a certain shot. Sadly the 14 was a temporary hole at around 150 yards when it should be a par 4. It seems they have sold some of the golf course to developers. This will reduce hole 14 to around 220 years and has already shortened holes 15 and 16. 15 is a par 5 but now plays more like a par 4. 15 and 16 have big areas where fairway should be but are now mud and stones.Greens were kept pretty well and ran true.I never like to see golf courses giving up land to housing developments. Such a shame they seem to have done this here.

Played this coarse yesterday and I can honestly say it’s the worst conditioned coarse I’ve ever played on and I’ve been playing golf for 35 years, the tee’s were uneven and bare dry dirt for the most part, the greens had bare patches on pretty much all of them, and at £30 for a mid week round it’s not exactly cheap, they are spending a lot of money on the hotel side of things and very little on the golf course, save your money

Don’t come here for a golf break . Staff were very helpful and friendly but are obviously over stretched. Hotel rooms were very nice and a good size but the bar and lounge area were not great very small . The golf course is in a terrible condition money is being spent on the hotel which is being extended to the expense of the golf course , the greens and tee boxes are in terrible condition. The fairways were long and difficult to distinguish from the rough. The signage was poor causing us to miss out the 14th hole and it took two days before a sign appeared. The clubhouse stopped serving hot food at 2.30 , with only cakes available after that . I wouldn’t come here again the photo is of the ladies 10 tee box it speaks volumes

Welcoming staff and locals, food splendid, golf course tricky and interesting layout, however needing a bit of attention in places, a bit of a complex layout.

This used to be a good golf club now it isn't. It is now a hotel which has a golf course attached and you can see where all the money goes. So the course, the first tee said it all really, and in hindsight I should've gone and found somewhere else to play. This, like most of the tee boxes was absolutely awful. Barely any grass, lumps and bumps all over it and uneven. To be fair, the fairways were about the only redeeming feature of the course as they were quite plush, but I'm not sure if this is by design or just they hadn't been cut. The greens were terrible, the grass was long, they were slow, some had holes in them, some had bald patches and on quite a few of them the holes had obviously been in the same positions for ages and the grass had started growing over the edges, making the holes smaller. I stood on 1 tee box looking towards the green, and there was a huge mound of soil piled up in the fairway at about 180-200 yards away. After the round, we went to the bar attached to the side of the 1st tee and was charged a ridiculous amount for 3 drinks, over £20 and 1 of the drinks was a cup of tea!! Do yourself a favour if you're looking for a nice golf course to play golf on, don't go to The Suffolk find another course.
