I visited with my 2year old daughter today, we had purchased a ticket to have a tour and paint your own mini fire helmet. The staff were nothing short of fantastic. One staff member offered to wait with my daughter while I ran out to get signal to pay for parking. He proceeded to entertain and play games with her when I came back and told us all lots of different facts and was just a really lovely individual. We loved it so much we missed the painting class but the ladies at reception soon sorted it by getting us our mini helmets and paints to take home with us. Fantastic place, we will be back.

Fantastic experience! Was amazing to learn about the history of fire brigades through the walking tour and see all the pieces of history that have been either restored or kept in such great condition, would definitely recommend going, it is also very child friendly and plenty to read, see and do!

Great wee museum, would definitely recommend a visit. Staff are friendly, there is lots of interactive screens and there is a dress up bit for the kids. The museum is very small but it has lots of interesting information and it's free

Really great collection of fire history, many original fire pumps from hand pumped to steam driven, all restored beautifully. My wife and I aren't usually fire history types but it's a wonderful visit. It was a guided tour which was wonderful and informative. I would highly recommend visiting, and it's free!

Very nice collection of Fire fighting equipment set in the original Edinburgh Fire Station HQ. We took our kids and they loved it.

Great wee place! Nicely organised and very interesting. The staff are fantastic and it's great that the volunteers all seem to be ex fire people who obviously know all about it. The only thing that would make it better is an appliance that kids could properly explore, hands-on. It's less fun for them having super interesting looking things around that they can't touch. Obviously not everything in the world is for kids but that would be the icing on the cake.

It's a small museum but definitely worth the wait. Its look into firefighting in Scotland is comprehensive and the museum itself has material catering to adults and children.

A really interesting small museum. My toddler loved looking at the engines and dressing up, and I learnt a lot too. They have several old fire engines and it's fascinating to see how they have developed over time.Staff are very kind and friendly. The guide in the exhibit was ex fire service so it was really interesting to talk to him.It was very quiet on a Tuesday afternoon, so a nice calm outing when Edinburgh is so busy with the festival!
