Had a fantastic lunch today with family. The fish pie was fantastic, fish and chips was great with a fresh crispy batter. The welcome was warm and service was excellent. The new team are doing a great job

Had heard good things about this place since the new guys took over. Saw the new menu and decided to give it a try, we are so, so pleased we did! From the moment we walked through the door, everyone was so welcoming. There was a fantastic atmosphere. The food is out of this world. All fresh and homemade. We will most definitely be coming back again and again, and we will highly recommend to everyone to try it too!

Loved it!! Really friendly welcome. Modern but cozy. Great food and service, and the best Hot Apple Toddy we've ever had!! Would definitely recommend!!

A friend and I went for steak night last night. Excellent value and delicious food. All staff were lovely and helpful. Highly recommended. Advise booking as it does get busy.

Absolutely fabulous food. Service was amazing too. Manager couldn't do enough to help us. Stayed at local glamping site with a short walk to the pub.. I would definitely drive from my home in Liverpool just for one of there gorgeous meals. We went on a Saturday evening and then we loved it that much we booked for Sunday roast.

Can’t recommend trying out the new menu at The Traveller’s Rest enough! The Vegetabke Penang curry was delicious. But there was so many other dishes we want to try! The tall one and I were spoiled for choice. For starters we had BBQ chicken wings and Prawns - lush. Jackie, Alison, Steve and the rest of the team are doing a fabulous job. Go and try it out! We need to support our local businesses.

Have been here a few times as we like to camp out nearby and have been underwhelmed . On reading that it was now under new ownership and judging by the good reviews we decided to give it one last go. What a transformation. I will start at the bar, a good selection of premium lagers and the old faithfuls plus a couple of cask beers. Couldnt decide whether to chance it on the cask so the Barmaid pulled me a sample of each to test , still slightly apprehensive. I ordered the pale ale with the assurance that if I wasn’t happy with it then just bring it back and she would replace it with a lager of my choosing free of charge. How’s that for service ! Now onto the food. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken skewers as a starter to share , just as well as it would probably constitute as a mealIn itself on its own. Delicious. For mains I ordered the steak and guiness pie and the wife ordered the fish and chips. Best fish and chips we have had since Whitby and the pie was as good as I have ever had and believe me I’ve had a few. Staff so attentive without being over intruding . Doing all the right things. A winning formula as far as I am concerned. Highly recommend.
