Having purchased my wife a overlocker from here a few months ago I have just returned this week to purchase a new sewing machine as my wife was looking to upgrade her current one after some great advice from Pete the owner she now has a great machine that does all the things she requires and is extremely happy with it. We found Pete to be knowledgeable, friendly, and honest in his advice.this is a great shop with a good choice of sewing machines. We totally recommend.

like most people my wife bought her first sewing machine from her friend. She spent the next few years not knowing how to get the best use from it. So when it came to changing we decided to go to a proper sewing machine shop and ended up at Hampshire Sewing Machines in West Street Fareham. The Boss there was very helpful and showed us several machines. We were able to try out and use the machine which we finally decided upon. We got a reasonable price for the old machine in part exchange. Since buying our machine my wife has been back to the shop to learn a bit more about making a button hole on the machine and the Staff have been very helpful. They have a nice friendly well stocked shop which is a pleasure to go in

I would like to warn future customers of Hampshire Sewing Machines that if you book a service for your machine, the piece of paper you sign with your deposit is considered by the owner to be a binding contract.I was shocked that the price of my service would be £120 but signed up and paid £30 deposit. When I got home my husband reminded me that I had paid not much more than that for the machine. I phoned the shop the very next morning and asked that the service not be carried out and I had changed my mind. This is when I was informed that the small piece of paper that I had signed the previous day was in fact a binding contract.I offered to leave the £30 deposit with him for his trouble and take the machine but he would not allow me to do that. He told me the machine had already been stripped down, which I don't believe as he had informed me the previous day that he'd had six machines in for service just that morning and that it would take 2 weeks for my service to be completed.I felt forced into having the service carried out in order to then get my machine back.I was offered the option of buying a new machine for around £500 in which case my £30 would be deducted from the price. I learned a very expensive lesson and had the service carried out!I found him so unhelpful and patronising that I will NEVER buy a machine from Hampshire Sewing Machines.

Thankyou so much for your help and support this week. My daughter uses her embroidery / sewing machine every day and it is a true workhorse. When the machine didn’t work properly and she couldn’t use it, she pan - I took the machine to yourselves and you quickly went through the issues and you helped resolve the problem quickly for which we are both sograteful. We both bought newmachines last year from Hampshire Sewing Machines and would have no hesitation doing so again. I still have my eye on the Juki NX7!!

Yes my machine was overdue a service. Yes the owner agreed to back date as I had missed the text reminder. However I was surprised the service was to cost £145 + VAT. When I asked what was involved I was told quite a lot actually" After form filling I asked again what was involved

I bought a new Janome 230DC yesterday from this shop. The help and advice i recieved was fab. I wasn't pushed into buying a new machine but was advised about my old one and how much longer it may or may not last! It could have turned into a bottomless pit financially so i took the bull by the horns and went for the new one!! The shopkeeper was so helpful and truthful about everything that i needed to know, explaining the advantages and disadvantages with each display model. I know i have made the right choice! I used my new one straightaway (after a few set up queries because technology isn't my strong point!!) i absolutely LOVE IT!! So smooth, quiet, squeaky clean(!) and simple to use. The stitching is perfect! Thank you so much HAMPSHIRE SEWING MACHINES! From one very happy customer!! :))

Please be cautious if approaching Hampshire Sewing Machine for a service. I paid £180 which in my opinion is extortionate. I wasn’t impressed with the customer service as I found the man rude. I am annoyed with myself for going ahead with the Service as the machine I bought was 11 years old and only cost me £300 and what the service actually involved is unclear … he told me there was a bit of fluff in it. I have phoned these guys in the past and I remember thinking then they were patronising, unhelpful and rude. I’ve only myself to blame I suppose.

I have just picked up my sewing machine from Hampshire Sewing Machines. Peter had done a great job and whilst I was there also solved a couple of issues that I have been having with my machine and Overlocker. Neither issue were due to the machines - just my lack of knowledge! I was treated in a polite and friendly manner. Peter always go that extra mile to be be helpful and would highly recommend.

I called to ask if he could test and possibly fix or replace the foot switch and motor for my Sairite sewing machine and explained I had the dismounted pieces. He told me to bring them in. As soon as I got there he told me they couldn't be fixed or replaced and tried to sell me a new sewing machine. He was also trying this with another customer when we arrived. What a complete waste of time. Just don't bother.

tldr: Expensive and didn't fix the problem it went in with. Limited opening hours. If the issue with a machine is user error, then it seems they will just conduct an unneeded service.A friend took their machine here with a problem and is too polite to write a review. As others have mentioned, yes the price was agreed beforehand, however for £170 you expect good service - both polite communication and a working machine at the end, which I do not believe they received. My friend was having an issue with her machine so took in the machine with a sample of the sewing to appraise". She was told that the tension needed re-calibrating - and at this point was informed the cost would be ~£130 + VAT.Upon collecting the machine (my friend's partner had to do this because of limited opening times)
