Midway Hut

No trains have passed for about 50 years

It's a hut. Literally in the middle of nowhere, on the Dava Way.As huts go, it has everything you need: a watertight roof, walls (one with a window in and one with a door in) and a good solid floor. It has solar powered lighting inside. A table and two benches round off the furnishing.It's NOT a bothy. There's no fireplace. The floor is a concrete pad. It's a decent place to stop for a brew and a bite to eat if you're on the Dava Way, but it's not worth making a special trip for (unless you're some kind of hut fetishist).

Brilliant find when tired for resting, and solar powered lights...a godsend

Great hut on the halfway mark between Grantown and Forres on The Dava Way. Couple of benches, nice big table, chocolate tin for weary and hungry travelers, and fantastic history of the area/railway/trail inside. If you're needing respite from weather or midges this hut is a lifesaver! No stove but weather tight and there are solar powered led lights inside if you need them. Well done to the volunteers keeping the place tidy and well stocked.

Nice place to take a rest while walking the Dava way
