Smui Thai Massage

I booked 2 x 1hr slots for my friends birthday gift and visited 2nd December. Having never been to Smui before (or had a Thai massage) the receptionist asked me to fill out a form with any medical info I thought the therapist should know. Having recently found out I have 2 giant cysts on my ovaries I explained that I would like the reflexology and head/neck/shoulder massage as then my middle area would be left alone. I had also read that reflexology was good for ovarian cysts and could shrink them which would be great as im having to have surgery to remove them. The therapists had our information and we followed them upstairs. I was told to lay on the couch which I did, on my back as I was expecting the reflexology, and this was more comfortable for me. I was rudely told to get up by the therapist and lay on my stomach. I did this even though I was not comfortable due to my cysts. The therapist started by jumping on my back which could easily have ruptured one of them. I again told her about my condition and was laying in a curved way to protect my stomach, so she got off. I assumed she was doing the neck, back, shoulder part but halfway through she still hadn't reached my feet so I told her I was expecting the reflexology. She dismissed this and continued with the Thai massage instead. She asked me to lay on my back halfway through and then tried to bring my thighs/knees up to my stomach, again really uncomfortable and not good for the cysts. I told her not to do that. The massage was fine but not at all what I had asked for or expected and quite frankly was dangerous for my condition!. After getting dressed I went down to the receptionist and she asked how it went. I explained all of this to her and she told me she had heard me say I wanted the reflexology and she told me she would speak to her boss and her boss would call me. She also offered a 5% discount (which everyone who has a treatment in December gets according to their Facebook promotion). I am fine luckily but the more I think about how dangerous this was the more cross I get! I would never use Smui Thai again, nor would I recommend to my worst enemy.

1st visit, very happy I chose this service. Professional with good conversation and humour thrown in.The lady massaged the specific area of concern and then addressed the whole body. Thanks.

Was visiting family from Bournemouth but had serious neck and shoulder pain. Mai was a mini miracle worker! Feel a lot better and will definitely will return when I’m back next!

Appointment booked for 2pmManager and staff arguing as staff wanted break , manager asks me to go have coffee and come back in 30 mins , I return to them telling me sorry they have mad a mistake and have another client in 15 mins complete waste of my travel time and my personal time, never have I been treated like this before , very unprofessional would not return

Smui Thai massage was recommended to me as i do not stretch down properly after gym sessions and started to get muscle aches and pains and unable to complete some exercises as movement was becoming limited. After 1 session at Smui I noticed the difference and now I have just had my 2nd massage I feel so much better, my back, legs and shoulders are looser and movement is so much better. Will definitely continue as a monthly routine.

One masseuse is useless. She has no awareness of the client's needs, even when informed of injuries. Is lackluster in meeting the client's needs: hard massage and is basically just going through the motions and is most definitely not committed to the art of Thai massage. I have had this lady several times. I've complained to the management with no change. Unfortunately I left a message for May the owner to call me when she was free to discuss my dissatisfaction, but have not received a call. I will not be using this service in the future.

This was the first time I had ever been here, I can say right from the get go the service was brilliant. The lovely young ladies were great. I can honestly say after walking out after the massage I felt like a new man. I will be definitely coming back.

Thankyou May for the most fab massage this am...it has totally sorted out my lower back injury (2 weeks old after over doing weights!) and I have every intention of returning monthly.Loved the vibe too, and the music! A hidden gem in Daventry!
