Unison - Belfast

Useless union to go with I had an issue of false allegations in the workplace. I had asked for representation and the response I got was that they were in a conflict which pretty much means they're taken nothing to do with it. Why pay 9.07 a month for them to do nothing for you is beyond me. Absolute joke they are. My advice is save your money and don't bother joining this union.

Don't waste your money joining UNISON Craigavon! It was my biggest mistake- paid for nothing, no help, no support, no advice. Was bullying by my line manager, finally i said enough and made complain to Top Managment. The same day after my raport got phone call from manager -''we will open disciplinary process against you it's about your record keeping'' I thought it was a some joke!..I trying contact my unison rep he was always too busy. Finally he met with me, went for meeting with HR but during a meeting he did't said a word! nothing totally useless,huge disappointment I didn't have any update from him weeks about case, he didn't replay for emails, phone calls, nothing. Big stress at work, no any news from rep. I decided to call Belfast Unison for new rep, they said no problem we will give you regional rep (Danielle)she take care about your case don't worry. I was happy 5mins...and then tryed to contact new rep she was too busy to make app with me(when HR arrange app and you will get app details i can met with you 1 hour before to discuss your case -she said) tryed to explain its complex case (actually 2 cases bullying and record keeping disciplinary) i need discuss with you everything, need some advice. She said no now, no point...First case (bullying) duration about 6months- Result: Bullying, harassment is unacceptable but because no witnesses we have to close the case.Another record keeping - never got any update, no any findings, nothing after 7 months working in huge stress, awful atmosphere at work i said enough have to leave. Asking my rep for meeting she didnt want meet with me. Unison rep met with me once during 4months for 30mins, didnt have chance to tell her everything, get any advice!!! She never called me with any update, any advice etc. e.g I asked ones: can you call HR and ask them about...she said i can't call in your behalf you should call yourself. USELESS.Finally i left company because nothing change there, my manager behave even worst, totally ignored me didn't talk to me days or blamed me about everything etc Unison worst experience ever- no support, no one care. I was asking for appointment, almost begging her before i left company. Didn't know what to do i couldn't stay any longer at work but still no update about disciplinary process(was over 6months and didn't have any info about case) but she said i had enough time for you, meeting with you now is pointless(she met me ones -for 30mins!!). Avoid Uniosn!

Good luck trying to get through to someone and IF you actually manage to and decide to use their services for an employment matter you will have to constantly chase them up for updates. Not the kind of service you'd expect at all for the amount of money that gets paid every month. Happy to take your money but can't even answer the phone when you need them.

I was a victim of race discrimination at work. As a Unison member I asked for help. There was a problem to see my rep. It took few months. Eventually after first appointment I requested assistance of solicitor as I wanted to take things to Industrial Tribunal. I was denied legal representation in the tribunal because „discrimination cases are hard to win”. Had to take things further on my own which resulted in big settlement. Unison is absolutely useless. Dont waste your money on them!!!

Disgusted with unison. Staff are extremely unreliable and record false information. Staff are unprofessional and very rude! I was with them for a while and never needed anything from them but when I wanted one bit of advice they where completely useless. I rung and got though to an English branch then I got the number of Brenda Peel based in Belfast who was also very useless and rude. Then I got the number of my apparent reps who never answered there phones. I complained then was told I need to leave a voicemail and a text message. So I did to both of them and I left a voice message and I texted them and I also rung them again but nothing yet again. Few days later one message from one of them stating she was on holiday and to contact someone else to which I did and never heard anything back. Unbelievable how I was paying £9.07 monthly for nothing in return. So I complained again in desperate need of advice I got knowwhere with them. However I did receive an email from Brenda Peel basically calling me a lier. Very professional in deed. She said her staff have tried to contact me on several occasions and left me messages and the 3rd person sent me an email (all was a lie) I never received an emails or messages from any of her expect stating she was on holiday. So I said I was going to cancel. What do you know they actually picked up the phone !!!! And Brenda Peel was very bland on the phone as she knew it was me of course and cancelled my membership without any questions or without asking why or even to give me the advice I had wanted for weeks!(clearly didn’t want the hassle) Appalling company. Never again will I go with them and I will make sure everyone knows to stay clear of Unison and their staff who do nothing but lie. Thanks unison for robbing me of my hard earned money for nothing.
