Isla has worked with our son weekly since 2017, and I can honestly say that we couldn't imagine our family's life without her. She is as professional, reliable and knowledgeable as she is kind, understanding and relentlessly cheerful. And she's got a great sense of humour - which is a biggie in our house, and a survival necessity some weeks! Our son genuinely looks forward to his sessions with Isla in the van, and our younger son (who definitely doesn't need speech therapy!) is wildly jealous of his brother's time in the magic van! More importantly, of course, our son's progress is obvious to everybody who knows him, and we can't even begin to imagine how different things might have been without Isla's input. If we have our way, she will be part of our lives for many years to come!

I used Isla for my little boy and she was fantastic. She phoned me for an initial conversation at no extra cost and was extremely thorough. We had appointments both in her van and in the home, both of which were great, and she provided us with a Hanen course which helped us communicate with our boy. She also accompanied us to a child planning meeting with the nursery. I felt very supported and will definitely use Isla again along our speech therapy journey.

Isla engaged with my 3-year-old son exceptionally well and was able to provide me with reassurance and practical guidance. Her follow-up was also very thorough – she provided me with further information via email and also sent us a very detailed report which summed up her findings and recommendations. I would definitely use her services again.

I would highly recommend Blethers. Isla has worked with our autistic son for the last 6 months and everyone has been amazed at the progress he has made. She is incredibly skilled at identifying the exact communication problem and the best strategies to use. My son loves the lessons and Isla is brilliant at engaging him and making it a lot of fun. She has helped to put plans into place in nursery, liaised with other professionals and is a huge support to us.

Isla very kindly agreed to let me shadow some of her speech and language therapy work recently. My name is Alison and I am project coordinator of Wave Project Scotland, a surf therapy charity. I met Isla in a car park initially and we got chatting about our project in Dunbar! We are a charity that relies hugely on our volunteer surf mentors and Isla was kind enough to come and give us all some training on communication difficulties and how best to overcome them. She was awesome! We had a full evening of training on various barriers to communication, difficulties we often come across and this in turn led to a great group discussion on how to best serve our surfers. Isla gave up her time graciously and was a huge source of information to us all. She made it very clear that we can use her huge knowledge base and resources going forward. Isla has assessed and delivered a block of intervention for my son. He has really enjoyed attending the sessions and there has been an evident improvement with his speech development. After completing this block of intervention, Isla wrote an excellent, very thorough report outlining his progress. I would definitely recommend Isla.

Isla was friendly and approachable and really knows her stuff. She helped my 8 year old daughter with her pronunciation difficulties, bringing her mobile speech and language ban to her school so she misses the minimum amount of the school day. We have ongoing practice and homework to help correct the sounds that were difficult for my daughter to say and for others to understand. Isla gave my daughter a lot of confidence to speak out and she is now in a wee drama class and doing a lot of speaking! I would definitely recommend Isla and Blethers speech and language therapy
