Efficient, clean and punctual service. Calm sea state ensured a serene journey. On board facilities are well stocked and good value. Staff were smartly attired, helpful and friendly. Would definitely book this service again.

Easy to get to. Quick loading. We had a vehicle and they allow all to stay in the car while loading onto the ferry.

On stand by but got on the early ferry . Calmac does not deserve the bad press it sometimes gets . I have travelled on there boats many times and a few different locations. Never had a problem in fact the opposite very enjoyable.

Not a lot at port, 1 shop 1 Hotel and wee ferry over to Jura.We were there well before departure and it was a busy ship that night, but staff had us all loaded in 20 minutes of the Finnlaggen docking in port.Photos taken from outside the hotel looking over to Jura

Absolutely shambolic service . We arrived at 12.00 for our 12.45 sailing to kennacraig from Port Ellen on Sunday 4/6/2023 In our motorhome . We were directed over to one side with other campervans & motorhomes . Loading began with lorries and cars boarding untill without any explanation beforehand, the ramp was lifted and the ship readied for departure. Then we were told the ship was full by a member of staff & that the next sailing was from Port Askaig 19 miles away at 15.30 .This proved to also be full. The Calmac official at the port of Askaig was unable to reassure us that we would be able to board the 18.00 ferry either. We were also informed he had no manager or senior person to request assistance from. Also the port manager was also absent. So no help from them either . The earliest guaranteed booking" we could acquire was 13.30 on Monday the 5th June

It's a sad place to be for me as I normally leave Islay from here. The geographical position gives you great views and you could even spot the Isle of sky the other day when I left. It's kind of got the feel of an 18th century smugglers den. Low small buildings nestle into the steep sided Valley. Fishermen fill boxes into large Spanish lorries and the jura ferry cuts across the sound of jura.

Small and efficient ferry service from Islay to Jura. Note, only about 4 cars can fit at a time, and check timetables for operating hours. Also, vehicles have to reverse onto the ferry, although the crew are very good at ensuring everyone manages this process well.Crossing completes in about 15 minutes in calm conditions.Blue badge holders get a discount upon display of a valid blue badge. Payment will be collected by a staff member, ideally by card, before boarding, at the vehicle queueing area.No public toilet facilities on the ferry or on the Jura side, so use the terminal facilities on Islay if needed.
