Very hard to adopt a dog from there.. took me 6 months between emails and phone calls.. wanted to foster first but they were closing down the program due to lack of staff and kept me waiting for ages for every email reply. Took so long the dog I was interested was transferred to another RSPCA, luckily (and due to one helpful staff member) I was able to track him down and finally adopt him.

Excellent place. They do so much thankless work for the animals who need it. We adopted our dog from here in July and they were great. The process was thorough, but it needs to be to ensure you are as suitable for the animal as the animal is for you. Recommend to anyone thinking of rehoming.

Donated various doggy items included puppy food. Rang bell and a disembodied voice (female) answered. Explained I had some items to donate. She told me to put the bag inside the door. Didn't bother even to say thank you. Will not be donating again.

Went here to look for a potential dog years ago.Staff showed a 'suitable' young Lurcher to us, and we needed a home visit, but were advised fences needed to be at least 6 foot high, and very secure at ground level. No gaps.Put these up, home check done, and they also need to see everyone in the family..Simply because some family members may not want the dog/cat/other pet and this is not good for the animal. We had the dog for nearly 12 years...canine perfection. The adoption procedure may seem 'fussy' but it comes from decades of experience.

I found a stray cat at the end of August, and took him straight to the vets who said he was all round healthy and happy, except for some skin issues on his back that would be helped by steroids and flea treatment.Around a month after having him with us he'd improved massively but we thought such a loving boy deserved a better home where he could get the affection he deserved, as he was by himself a lot whilst we were at work all day, with busy schedules the rest of the time, and he had so much affection to give, so took him to arc.I was told when taking him in that it would take a few months for him to be adoptable whilst they got his back sorted and some more weight on him. We left our numbers and were told we could check-in to see how he was doing, but we tried not to so we didn't get any more attached than we already were. After checking the website for months and not seeing him I thought I'd call, just to find out they euthanised him. Their reasoning for this being 'he was itchy'. We weren't even told, or we would have taken him back in a heartbeat.I don't know if it's a funding thing or not but regardless DO NOT take strays here. He was so loving and affectionate, with so much life in him, and his skin was improving by the day when we took him in, they didn't even give him a chance.Rip sweet boy, you deserved so much better, and I'll regret giving you to these people for the rest of my life.

Dedicated, helpful staff who do great work for abandoned animals. We were fortunate enough to take on two kittens from here and staff did a great job making sure we were prepared and well informed to welcome them to our family. They welcome all sorts of donations and you can help them out in a number of ways. Highly recommended.

My daughter is looking to adopt a rabbit, so we have been looking at rescue centres. Although they didn't have many rabbits available, we were welcome to say hi to the other animals there. The member of staff we spoke to, gave us great information, and was very friendly. She informed us that they only let rabbits go in pairs, unless there is already a rabbit in the adopters family. They didn't currently have any pairs, so we weren't able to go any further in the process. As I say, we were allowed to wander round and see the other animals. The whole complex was very clean and tidy. We stopped off to see the small first, and i must say, if anyone is thinking of getting mice, these seem to be the ones in most need of a home so please think about adopting before you go get a cute baby mouse or three. They also had ferrets there. although it seems most animals are rehomed very quickly as many were reserved, and a lot were also new additions. This seemed to appear the case with the dogs there also. There are some beautiful dogs here, so please consider them before buying a puppy. All of the animals information was clearly on display, and really helps in deciding whether you are a suitable match. We were unable to enter the cattery, so I am unable to comment, except to say that signs were up to ask a member of staff if you wished to have a look. I did not do this, as I didn't not want to take time from the staff members when I am not currently looking for a cat (hopefully in the near future though)
