Falmouth Marine Surveys

Very pleased with results of my consultation. I was given friendly, clear and easy to follow advice and instructions on the refurbishment of 1960s wooden sailing dinghy that had slipped into neglect. I am delighted with how the boat turned out , it certainly would have been a drastically different outcome without the proper techniques and pro tips explained by Sol at Falmouth marine surveys. I would recommend speaking to him 10 times out of 10 before attempting any specialist stuff like steaming wood or riveting. . . We commissioned a Pre-purchase survey of a Cornish Crabber. We were delighted at the thoroughness and the level of detail provided in the report. Maid of Conway 1960 Wooden Classic Twin Screw Crossfield Motor CruiserUK Flagged and on the National Historic Ships Uk Register.Having bought the Maid of Conway on the 13th April 2021 at Gweek Classic Boatyard, we set out an ambitious plan to get her back into the water by the 14th June 2021. And with very long hours, help and advice of a lot of people that plan was achieved.Previously The Maid of Conway had been laid up at Gweek for a very long time. So long that people had forgotten how long she had been there for (So probably she had been out of the water between 7-10years).The previous owners had completed the vast amount of the project but had finally run out of drive to finally complete her. So it was down to us to complete and bring her back to the high finish standard that she deserved.With well over 900 man hours put into the project in 2 months we would like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to:Sol Stainer (Boat Surveyor)The value of getting a professional boat surveyor (which we should of done earlier on the project) was paramount. Sol provided us with a plan of A and B actions so that the boat could be insured and launched on time. (Major points being the Portside Garboard, Stbdside Rudder fairing plate/ 3 x redundant through holes and much much more..). All points were completed with the help of Ian Gowland-Jones team of Merry Men from the points given by Sol.Sol is a very Competent Surveyor and Thorough in what he does. Sol was excellent thoughout, helping to arrange a lift at a local boatyard to inspect the hull, and also produced the written report in a timely manner.
