About the Business
Essex Aikido Dojo (Shoshinkan) | Essex Aikido Dojo (Shoshinkan) teaches the Tomiki system of Aikido and is affiliated to the British Aikido Association. Senior Instructors Shaun Hoddy is a Shihan Dai of the Japan Aikido Association and holds the rank of 6th Dan Aikido JAA and 1st Dan Taiho-Jutsu. Andy Wisbey holds the rank of 4th Dan BAA. Essex Aikido Dojo (Shoshinkan) is based at Basildon Sporting Village and is the premier Tomiki Aikido Dojo in Essex. Club coaches have grades ratified by the British Aikido Association and or the Japan Aikido Association

Top club, knowledgeable instructors and fantastic members. Shaun is one of the best instructors on the circuit and does a really good job from onboarding newbies all the way to hosting the national squad sessions. Kids classes regularly attract strong numbers and they always leave with huge smiles on their faces. Shoshinkan really does a great service to grassroots aikido.

I have been training here with Sensei Shaun Hoddy and Sensei Andy Wisbey for the last 12 years and have loved every second of it. They have helped and nurtured me for all that time and have had a huge positive impact on the man I am today. It is a fantastic environment for people of all ages and abilities with great family values. Would 100% recommend for anyone looking for a new hobby.
