SMARTDOGS

I have 2 chihuahuas: an 8 year old and a 1 year old.I attended the classes to help generally train the 1 year old (a 'lock down' puppy). I wanted to work on her obedience/recall and interactions with people as she was very nervous and yappy around strangers. The classes and all the training tips to work on inbetween the weekly classes were really helpful and definitely worth the £65.I then worked with Will for 1-1 sessions for the 8 year old. Overall the 8 year old is fantastic, however he is terribly reactive towards other dogs and this is something I have been unable to resolve on my own. After 2 sessions, we have seen an improvement which is quite astonishing really.Unfortunately, the 2nd lot of classes were a bit of a nightmare due to Wills poor health. I have every sympathy for this, I appreciate we all have health issues sometimes, but I was disappointed in how this was handled. Cancelling 1 or 2 sessions is understandable, but after multiple sessions had been cancelled, then he really should have paid someone else to cover the classes or else offered his clients the opportunity to get a refund. What should have been 4 weeks, starting and finishing in September, stretched on into November. By this time weather deteriorated and the evenings were dark and it was just no longer enjoyable doing outdoor sessions.

Will is fantastic - friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve been really impressed with his group training course, which we have just completed. I’ve learnt new techniques and my beagle’s on lead behaviour is calmer and he’s a lot better at focussing on me, even with distractions! Would highly recommend Smart Dogs Training.

Will is a really approachable and professional tutor. We attended a 4 week class with our puppy. It's been really helpful both with his training & socialising with other people and dogs in a safe environment. WOULD DEFINETELY RECOMMEND!!!

Will has helped us hugely with a very willful dog! He gave us strategies that are consistent and logical. They work but you must be patient. He makes it clear that if you don’t have good control of your dog in your home then you have no chance outside. And he has a set of rules to achieve that. I would not hesitate to recommend SmartDogs

We attended a 6 week course with Will with one of our dogs Kobi, a large very strong American Bulldog x Alaskan Malamute. We were at a point where we were struggling massively to walk him due to his strength. Kobi learned very quickly the training Will gave us and within a couple of sessions Kobi was a different dog! We are now on our second course with Will (we signed up again as although Kobi learned so much we believe it was good for him socially and mentally). We have also had Will do some 1:1 work with us to help us introduce Kobi to my other dogs. We are now at a point where Kobi gets lots of long nice walks, not pulling and focused on me! He is a pleasure to walk now! I cannot recommend Will enough. He has helped us so much and we are very grateful for all of Will's training, help and advice. Will is always happy to give advice at any time. Thank you for all of your continual support.

Fantastic trainer who explains things simply and logically. Have had a 1:1 with Will and just started attending his puppy classes for our lively Cocker Spaniel pup. Will has succeeded where other trainers have failed. We have noticed a difference in what was becoming an aggressive resource guarding pup in a short space of time. Would highly recommend Will

I took my 1 year old stubborn spaniel, Dyson, to Will at York Dog Park and within a couple of sessions I could already see him becoming a different dog. With Will’s range of techniques for engaging our dogs, Dyson has gone from a dog who would pull my arm off and totally ignore me on a walk to (9 times out of 10 atleast) being able to walk on a loose lead by the side of me and listen to my commands, even focusing on me without my asking. Will works with each group member individually within the sessions, to ensure everyone knows what they are doing, and gets any extra support / advice needed.Dyson is still the excitable, crazy spaniel he was before training, but much better at listening and able to calm himself faster in situations where this is needed. Thank you Will for being so helpful in sharing your knowledge and being able to confidently transfer that to all different breeds. Would definitely recommend.

Will is a brilliant trainer with lots of experience and knowledge. Our puppy Solo has come along wonderfully with his training and advice. He also loved going to the classes and really enjoyed the fun nature of the training. We would highly recommend Will to everyone who needs help training a puppy or dog.
