The actual facilities are lovely and the location is great. The staff were either incompetent or negligent. We booked in for a night and at 9 pm discovered that the freshly made up bed my friend was in was actually occupied and they had overbooked the room. It took a while to explain this to the desk and when they came up they took all our names. At that point they chose to remove the items on one of the beds because that person wasn't in the room at the time. At 1:30 a.m., they wake up the whole dorm by repeatedly entering and turning flashlights on the bunks. They have a conversation of about 10 minutes with the girl who should have checked out the day before but who was still here. This girl had given her name to the staff earlier, and they hadn't flagged that she was no longer booked into the room. Then they remade the bed and had the person whose items had been removed come back in. All in all it took an hour of time and noise spent in the room. You don't expect much from hostels but the one thing they should be able to deliver on is the security that your bed is your own and that the disturbance and lack of consideration, if any should occur, will come from the other guests.

Our stay at the Tranquil Bayfront Retreat was pure serenity. The bayfront location provided a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Our room was elegantly appointed, and the view of the bay was mesmerizing. The staff's warm hospitality made us feel right at home. This is the kind of place you never want to leave.

I was booked in to stay as I was on a road trip with my partner. I drove past the place and kept driving. The surrounding streets feel really unsafe and there was no way I was going to park my car outside. I pulled over and got accommodation else were. I wasted my money.... but had a great sleep in my alternative accommodation, where my car was safe and secure.

The best hostel I've ever been.It is very well located in the university area, with all the important places near. Great price, free breakfast included! The hostel is clean, with many facilities. Big kitchen, with pasta and free rice, coffee, tea, sugar and chocolate. Football table and pool table for free. They organise night activities, where it is easy to make friends around the world, and where everyone go together to the pub. If you want to relax and be quiet instead of going to the pub, there is a lounge with sofas, netflix, video games, books and computers. The staff is amazing and the owner Mark is a legend. They are very friendly and know everything about Belfast. They clean the hostel several times a day so it is very clean, and at night they watch that no one enters from outside (only guests) so it is very safe. I recommend it 100%

I cannot understand how or why this place is so highly rated. It is literally falling apart. The rooms are absolutely tiny and the walls are made of paper. The entire building needs a massive overhaul.Worst of all is the bathroom that is halfway up the staircase. It is one of the most grim scenes I have ever laid eyes on. Paint flaking off the walls and quite simply disgusting. I imagine homeless shelters are in better condition than this place. Not really the hostel’s fault but some of the surrounding streets are absolutely filthy with rubbish dumped all over the street. This is visible from the hostel’s yard area. The staff member who checked us in was lovely, however. That’s the only reason this place deserves a single star.

A nice location, 15 minutes on food from centre, the staff was friendly, a lot of free stuff such as breakfast, rice pasta, coffee , tea.. Even sweets. The kitchen also have a fussball and a pool table, and some board games. The rooms was just okay for couple of nights, clean, but the room itself was smelly because they didn't opened the window, not too warm, the toilets upstairs need to be cleaned but nothing serious. And the downstairs ones were very nice.Overall, affordable, free stuff provides is a huge bonus and its close to center..If i want to visit Belfast for 1-2 nights I would go there for sure.

I enjoyed staying at Global Village immensely! It is a hostel with fantasticart and ambiance in the common areas. The free breakfast was great and the kitchen well outfitted if you like to make homemade meals. The dorm room was basic and clean. The real gem of this hostel is the people. If you get a chance to speak with the owner, Mark, he is kind and a wealth of knowledge. I will definitely come back when I get the chance!

I had a tiny 4 share room, tiny window could not combat the heat in the room, made it hard to sleep. But it did manage to let all the noise in from guests in the courtyard till 3am... i stayed 2 nights, didn't enjoy the lack of sleep, very noisy hostel, doors, halls, people, all seem louder here.Open window vs noise and light. In a hostel you NEED well ventilated rooms. Only the good hostels have good ventilation that doesn't need to come from an open window letting in all the street noise and light. Global village doesn't have good beds or rooms with proper ventilation. It does have a good social atmosphere, good people, common room and staff were good. Just needs better beds and ventilation.
