Good atmosphere, however put a few quid into the Jude box, asked the bar person to turn it up but could barely hear it , left shortly after that . Got the impression they wanted to close early on a Saturday night!! Really!

Nice enough regulars. Great for a game of pool, or even Killer pool on a Friday!However, the runaway highlight of this pub is the staff - specifically Lisa, Nicole & Andy, to be honest they make the place and it is definitely worth a visit.

It was the first time for many years that I popped in the Rats Ars... Rats Castle the other week and it seems to me it hasn't changed from when I first went in some fourty five years ago, I dare say someone will say its altered alot but to me it still remains exactly the same as when I would occasionally go down with freinds on our Motorbikes in the seventies . So well done to the Rats Castle for keeping alive how nearly all the good old St. Albans pubs used to be like.

It was empty when I got there early on a week day but my 5 stars is from rating the barmaid. She was wonderful! Warm, welcoming, helpful. I'd go back just to greet her. Perfect example of superb customer service.

Not a bad boozer, pretty local but friendly. Decent couple of ales and eclectic spirit selection ;) darts, pool and big screens for sport. Decent local!

Traditional, locals’ pub - pool table, dart board, and screens for watching sport. Pleasant enough, but not exactly warm and welcoming. Advertising for staff at the time of my visit, but so many pubs are these days.Only one of the three hand pumps had cask ale on, and no craft beer offerings. More of a Guinness/lager drinker’s pub.Better alternatives nearby, unless this is your home crowd.

I only go here for the football games, so for that alone, it has one of the best big screens (and sound) that I have experienced. Great friendly bar staff too.

Still a pub, a rarity these days, good mix of people from all walks of life, great staff and service,great place to let your hair down especially on big sporting occasions and in house organised entertainment evenings, well worth a look.Free entertainment, let yourself go and have a good time
