George & Georgina go out of their way to make you comfortable, whether it be changing rooms, calling a taxi - a pleasure to meet them, .....great characters and unlike larger hotels, they make sure everything is to your liking.David & Virginia from Brasil

My cousin and I visited last weekend Saturday and left the next day, the owners very first words to us when he saw us ringing on the doorbell was 'what you after' i guess he assumed we wernt there to stay as we may have been dressed like where from 'out of town' but i guess thats what a BB is for right? people that are from 'out of town' anyway, his mother who i think works there too was very judgemental and said things to us as we where paying like 'no smoking in the room' 'dont bring back girls' 'no trouble' assuming we where that type of crowd and apparently we dont look like yobos trying to do reverse psychology encase we intended on causing trouble or something? not very welcoming if i am honest, quite patronising.we where moved to another house which is 2 doors down, not sure why we where not in the main hotel but anyway. the room in general is basic and good enough for what we was after, TV is a great plus and we had access to the garden door which was great for when we wanted to smoke, maybe thats why we where moved there from saving us coming in and out the house? who knows!we where not informed about breakfast times and when told the next day that we wasnt advised of this the owner just said, 'i did tell you, you must've not listened' also when we told his mother we didn't know when breakfast was and that no one told us all she replied was 'next time' so we had to go out and spend money on breakfast even though our price for the BB included breakfast.on our leave we handed back the keys to our room and asked to use the loo before our long drive home, while my cousin was in the loo upstairs i was with the owner being 'guarded' as it seemed. he must've assumed i was going to steal something from the living room! which had literally nothing but sofas and a TV.overall the hotel is what we was after and expected in terms of room and amenities, however the customer service side was very poor! we left the room in immaculate condition with the beds done and the towels folded away which didn't go unnoticed. I guess the owner may now think twice before judging on appearance,I wouldn't come back here due to the feeling of being judged, which was not a nice feeling at all. the room is as expected hence the 1 star but these type of places are meant to feel personal in a positive way which we did not feel at all.

What can I say, I sent nearly a year here so I got to know them, the family as well, this is not a bed and breakfast any more because the landlady is getting on in year's, also saw guests come and go at the end of 18 they stop the breakfast but the breakfast was not free you had to pay for it £5 a day, they did look after me well I must say they gave me a Christmas dinner on the day which went down well did not have much over Christmas day and boxing day no shops open

Was greeted by the Landlady, but she was very intimidating and told us to behave, shut the door and don't lose your key etc. Not a good first impression and quite patronising towards me and my friends.Had a room next door but one. An odd smell was forever present throughout. I didn't attempt to use the shower in the morning because it looked very grotty. Breakfast was ok and the bed was basic but clean.Tea and coffee facilities - TV in room, TV remote batteries were flat.£30 for the room (I suppose you get what you pay for)

It's a seaside hotel much like an any other, a bit faded but fine for the night. What makes it stand out is the lovely landlady, who will share her opinions with you :-)

It was a great experience, lovely and warm place to stay when visiting southend. Myself and my boyfriend thought it had great service and a smile. Polite, i definitely have recommended the Pavilion Hotel to friends and family. I would stay here again, comfy beds, decent facilities. It is worth the money. and i love that its near the sea front :). The food was absolutely delicious, Thank-you

Arrived to a lovely warm welcome, couldn't be more helpful, old fashioned but clean, comfortable and relaxed with a welcomed cooked breakfast the next morning, happy and would use again.
