A breath-taking performance. Can’t wait to return, for the Einaudi one, on my birthday!

Medium sized gallery in the heart of Southampton City with permanent and temporary exhibitions. Old favourites and interesting new installations. One Saturday morning per month there's a pianist, so beautiful music reverberates around the space. Child-friendly - I love to bring my grandchildren here. Donations are welcome but there's no entrance charge. Why am I telling you all this?! I'd like to keep it for myself!!

A very nice gallery in a very special place. Located on the first floor practically above the ground floor library at the Southampton Civic Center. There is a lift so it is wheelchair accessible. And male and female toilets on the ground floor. They also have a small Arts,Craft and Books shop on the first floor with items made by local Art Students and sold at very reasonable prices. The gallery opened in 1939 with much of the initial funding coming from two bequests. One from Robert Chipper field the other from Frederick William Smith.Southampton City Art Gallery houses some of the finest works of art in the south of England. With over 5,300 items from the Renaissance to the present day. Work includes some of the greats such as J.M.W. Turner, Auguste Rodin, L.S.Lowry, among many others. There is also free entry

Beautiful evening /music but almost non existent sound system .Announcers voice could not be heard and I was sitting approximately 6 rows from the front therefore unaware of information surrounding any of the pieces or composers .

incredible performance by the Han Zimmer tribute orchestra, unfortunately the staff of the evening IE security and ushers were absolutely terrible. It was mentioned at the beginning of the show that there should be no photographs taken during the performance (until the final piece). Unfortunately there were three or four members of the audience doing this constantly throughout the performance with incredibly bright phone lights, and it was very distracting. Yet the ushers or security did absolutely nothing to stop this, which was very disrespectful to the performers. Also the security (an older gentleman with glasses and no hair) was constantly talking to his colleague and jangling his keys and chair throughout the whole thing. Considering the sound wasn't very loud during the performance this could be heard even five rows in. Despite the uselessness of the building staff the show itself was amazing and I'll be reviewing this separately and directly.

A nice and small gallery. It had a nice exhibition, but so many of the art they house had to be put away to show the exhibition, that we missed out we feel. They also had a huge class of schoolchildren running and screaming, which really makes things difficult.

What a great Friday night experience! Came to listen to talented young musicians play wonderful ColdPlay classics in a gorgeous venue.

This free (donations accepted) museum is located near the town centre, the Southampton central rail station, and the town centre parks. On the day of my visit in early August, there were exhibits of modern art, older/traditional paintings, and a John Salt exhibit (so glad I caught it, and discovered a new-for-me British artisit). It took me about an hour to walk through the art museum. The flooring is the usual hard materials of museums. Comfortable, walking shoes are recommended; I was glad I had mine.
