We wanted our front garden converted into a driveway, and in a reasonable timescale. Most places were quoting 12+ weeks, or funny money, or both! We decided to go with S&D as they had done a decent job of some neighbours similar projects, and the price was reasonable in comparison to their competition. The job was completed on time, to a high standard and with responsive communication throughout. Very happy, have recommended to friends already.

We used S&D for our loft conversion and have 0 complaints! They were very informative from the beginning of the process. They helped us with the design and provided a great plan which was then perfectly executed. The project was completed in the agreed timelines and to a high standard. All those involved were extremely helpful and polite. Many thanks to Tam, Kenny, Lewis, Andy and Ross who spent the most time and effort making sure this was finished quickly. K&A

Recently had my house renovation carried out by S&D Home Improvements. This was a major project which involved a loft conversion (2 bedrooms; dormers/ windows; new bathroom; new staircase); rewiring almost the entire house; new kitchen and relocation of the utility. There were a few hiccups along the way and it took much longer than the 10-12 weeks quoted, but I am very happy with the finished job. The staff were all very helpful and any issues were quickly dealt with by the Project Manager. The work has been completed to a high standard and it now looks and feels like a new build within the shell of the old house. Before the job started, I received a payment schedule which allowed me to manage my finances and arrange for payments to be made in instalments as the work progressed. I was responsible for arranging the flooring; tiler; ordering the bathroom and kitchen. This allowed me to choose my preferred designs within my available budget. My house - a 1940s semi which had some ugly 1970s “refurbishments” – now is bright, fresh and very comfortable. The new insulation makes it much cosier and more economical to heat. I was able to stay in the property throughout the build. While the process was difficult at times, the finished product has made it well worthwhile.

S&D provided a project manager who organised the whole job - this meant the work went smoothly. They were pleasant to deal with, the work was good quality and there was no mess. We're very pleased with the outcome and have recommended them to friends.

I sent an e-mail requesting a quote for a mono block driveway. I received an e-mail very quickly saying that someone would contact me soonest. No one got in touch. I emailed again a week later to chase them up and I was told that they were very busy but they promised that someone would call me.Someone did call the next day and an appointment and time were agreed for their surveyor to visit. No one turned up at the allotted time 1.30pm. I left my house at 2.30pm to pick up my grand son from nursery, which I had made the surveyor aware of at the time.I came home later and the surveyors business card was posted through the door and I’ve not heard a thing from them since. If this is the way they treat potential new business, I reckon I’ve dodged a bullet.

Absolutely shocking service from start to finish. I expected better from a reputable company, but now I wish I'd read the negative reviews on here. When I met with Alistair, I'd agreed upon a 2 car driveway and although I didn't think he was actually listening to what I was asking, I had faith he knew what he was doing.Unfortunately, when the work was carried out, I had covid, so didn't see the completed work until after it was finished. The driveway looks good, but only big enough for one car. I asked if they could remove the old fence as well as the remains of a tree I cut down, instead, they only moved the old fence on top of the branches and left it. Some of the excess dirt that was excavated was dumped on top of a section of my garden where I'd planned seeds, and the netting that was covering it is buried underneath. They'd also taken the bolt from my garage, which was later returned after I complained, but that was the last of the problems.I felt that the staff lacked manners, and often when I looked out of my window to check on them, they were just sitting about doing nothing. The job could have probably been done in 1 day instead of 3, especially when they were 3 hours late on the first day, and didn't have the decency to call me to let me know that they'd been held up on a previous job. I had to call myself to check that they were coming. When I emailed to say that I expected the driveway to be bigger, and to complain about the mess that was left, the foreman returned shortly after to tidy a bit, but the follow up email from them was just a request for payment. I feel like I paid under duress, as I wasn't happy with the services provided. I now regret not going with a local pavior who was highly rated, as they were willing to do the full area and 2 walls for only a bit more than what I paid S&D.Edit: I'm already starting to get weeds through the driveway 6 months on.

Brilliant company and can't recommend them highly enough. Right from the start to the end of the project they were amazing. Great customer service and always in touch to let us know what was happening and when. Guys that did the job were polite, hard working and can't fault them. What a transformation in our back garden that turned out much better than we thought. Can't thank everyone at S&D enough.

Inept and unprofessional or unashamedly dishonest, not sure which. We needed a wall demolished and replaced with fencing. They quoted 6k which we agreed to proceed. Then on the day of the job said they wanted 11k or they wouldn't proceed. Better still, they blamed me for not realising the 6k quote was too cheap and alerting them! Avoid at all costs, especially Allister who is both rude (anyone with a brain reading that quote should know it's not realistic" he told me") and prone to mis-truths. When I asked if they could complete at least a part of the job and we'd pay for that he advised the digger had already left my house. All through that phone conversation I was looking at the digger outside my house."

Please make your own conclusions on whether this plumbing work looks acceptable. We paid £80,000 for an extension which now has soaking, rotten floor boards. A £500 “goodwill gesture” offered after 1 year of constant meetings. Any positive reviews come from garden driveways which is their limit. They cannot cope with home extensions in my opinion

S&D Home Improvement installed a patio in my back garden in July. I was delighted by the finished patio. The guys were friendly and tidy. I would recommend them to anyone looking for landscaping work.
