For years I longed to restore the door pull on our mid-Victorian home but was dispirited when I found that all the parts except the exterior pull itself were missing. After calling Below Stairs, Stewart Hofgartner responded, chatting with me for a good half hour, asking for pictures, letting me choose a bell by sight and sound, and offering to put together a system with all the antique parts that I would need (which is no easy task!). He included compatible polished mahogany backdrops for the pulleys and an easy to follow diagram for the installation. The finished product is so extraordinary (!!!) that it is now a wonderful feature and a talking point of our home. I have been collecting antiques for a quarter decade and this is the first that I have seen my husband over the moon about a purchase. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Below Stairs and particularly to the inimitable Stewart Hofgartner for his kindness, perfectionism, and unrivalled expertise. Our beautiful Christmas bell pull would not have been ringing without you.

Bought a Musgraves item here, very well packed [by Amy] which is always important buying from a distance. They ship overseas too..they got my postage costs pretty spot on, and all items are signed for. Have been to the shop a few times over the years a wondrous place! A really ''oldskool'' Antiques and collector's delight in buildings that stretch back into a lovely old Stableyard.
