From start to finish, Mike and his team have been superb. Communication has been excellent and it has been fun having the team around when the work was underway. We have used them twice now and will certainly use them again.

Absolutely hideous experiences dealing with Mike Tucker the owner. I would advise anybody to go elsewhere unless you want lecturing, being patronised and enduring his condescending sarcasm, know all attitude and arrogance. He overcharges for mylands sample pots in store charging more than the online prices and then when this is pointed out shrugged his shoulders and said ‘oh well’ with a smirk. A mylands colour I had mixed in a 2.5 litre was totally wrong against the sample pot and colour chart. He went onto say that’s because of the type of paint (both Matt!) and the way light affects it. I said I work with light and colour and he said ‘yeah, how,?’ I responded as a photographer, he laughed and said ‘well you must know everything then!’ As he turned away and went and served another customer leaving me just stood there!He refused a refund and basically said it’s my eyes. I told him I need a refund to get the right colour from somewhere because the job required finishing in three days whereupon he laughed, made a sarcastic remark that I’d already been two years doing the place up so another couple weeks wouldn’t hurt.I took this up with Mylands directly who having checked have confirmed that the mix formulation is wrong and not as it should be. They have replaced it for me and are helpful and far better so I’d advise anyone to avoid City decorating supplies unless you want to be patronised and risk losing your money because of their errors that they try to say are imaginary and deal directly with the main companies like Mylands. I’d never buy from Mike Tucker again or city decorating. I could go on and on about how I have suffered his rudeness over the years like his giving me advice I’ve not asked for and then suddenly saying ‘anyway, time is money and if you want any more advice I charge £30 for half an hour!!!’ I think NOT! His arrogance is insufferable. Whilst this was all happening his wife had painted the sample pot and their pot on a piece of paper. You could clearly see the difference but STILL they blamed the light and types of paint! She quietly and conveniently disappeared whilst all of this was happening.As I left I said ‘you are so rude, my family have spend thousands with you over the years and your attitude is really poor’ to which he replied ‘Thankyou for your custom, goodbye’ …. Ask around in the decorating trade I would, mine isn’t an isolated case. It’s easier and more reliable to order directly from the makes themselves rather than fill their pockets and egos.Once I was there and told him I had kitchen cabinet doors to paint, his reply ‘ oh I expect it’s one of those cheap B&Q mdf ones isn’t it…!’ I responded with NO…it’s hardwood to which he smirked and said oooh are you sure? If that isn’t patronising I don’t know what is!Yes he may know a lot about some things but he also has a lot to learn about having respect for others and realising that he isn’t always right!He has lost me and all of my family as customers as well as a few other Decorater’s that I know of locally. They’d sooner travel to Bristol rather than deal with them.Bad experiences everytime I’ve been there, never again!

My friend and I dealt with two really friendly ladies who helped us with some paint queries and advice. Great customer service and would happy come back in the future!

Very good service. Called to order a few cans of paint over lockdown which were both in stock and ready to collect within a few hours. Really easy pickup system and friendly staff.

I have been a customer of City Decorating Supplies for 20 years and Mike has been absolutely brilliant, remarkable knowledge and great advice and support during the restoration of my Grade 2* home. Even to the point of coming out and looking at the buildings to make sure the best products were used.I don't normally write reviews, but I simply do not understand this review from Ms Richards. It is the opposite of my experience.I thoroughly recommend City Decorating Supplies to anyone who needs in depth knowledge and experience.

Overall you can get almost anything you'll need for decorating. It has a wide range of specialist paint suppliers like F&B and Little Green plus others. Owners are knowledgeable and helpful. Had a problem with mixing something I wanted but that was the paint companies auto formulation that went wrong. However they said they'd sort it by Monday(went in on Saturday) but didn't hear from them untill I chased them up. Funnily they were just sorting it. But they are a good outlet and you can use them with confidence. The three stars are a reflection that they tend to be a bit more expensive (my last order was £3 more expensive than another supplier) so not necessarily competitive and you often have to go back to collect what you order as it's made in store. And on that point colour matching by other companies is a competitive way to get what you want for a lot less. I can see bulk manufacture costing more but mixing the odd few Lt??? At nearly £100 for 5lt. It is a bit of a rip off no matter how they try to sell it. I worked in the industry so...... Lost stars are on value for money. Business - get all you want plus advice all in one place. Would have bee 5* if they were better value.

Do not order from them ! Horrible ! They will not accept any responsibility for mistakes and will not help but are all too willing to take your money in a hurry. I will be contacting Farrow and Ball about the staff lack of knowledge about F and B colours! They also lie and say they record the phone calls but when you ask for a recording they start back tracking. DO NOT buy from this nasty company ! they have the local monopoly and take advantage of that !

Honestly, when it comes to painting, I have no idea where to start. Jan & Mike put me at total ease, and talked through many options. We soon realised what I like and disliked, and with Jan's patience & knowledge, I am now excited to start painting. I can't thank them enough. A really good price, with the added knowledge.It always worth going to a local friendly place, who knows exactly what you need, even if you don't!Thank you so muchI will be back, when I finally do up my house!Xxx
