Katharine at Dunmow Branch has been absolutely wonderful! We feel extremely lucky to have found such a caring, kind and knowledgeable Vet. When I tell my Friends about our experience with Katharine they want to leave their current vets and register with her! We wouldn't dream of going to anyone else.

We recently had to say goodbye to our dog Cuqui. She became very ill, very suddenly and at 12 years old, we decided she'd suffered enough. When I say we, I mean us and the lovely vet Inge, who was totally honest with us. I really appreciated this. ALL the staff are lovely at M & H. From the receptionists making me appointments while I was crying on the end of the phone, to the veterinary assistant who showed kindness to Cuqui. Poor Cuqui had had a hard life. Born in Spain, she was used for hunting for 8 years, and then after a bigger dog broke her leg, she was used for breeding for 2 more years. Luckily, a dog rescue then received her, but her leg had to be amputated. Once well enough to travel she became an Essex girl for 2 years. Thoroughly spoilt! I wish we'd had longer with her, but it wasn't meant to be. Thank you everyone at Gt Dunmow Mercer and Hughes. I would DEFINITELY recommend them.

Mercer and Hughes vets in Great Dunmow have been superb. I have used them for several years and have always had a good experience regardless of who has seen me. We unfortunately had to put our 16 year old dog down last Friday after a week of her being unwell and they were so sympathetic, genuine, caring, friendly and helpful. They helped make an upsetting and difficult time much more manageable. My dog was PTS on a Friday and they had already said that I didn't need to pay on the same day (which made all the difference so that we could focus solely on our dog) and I expected them to email me an invoice on the following Monday but they didn't (again no rush) so I happily called up on the Monday to pay. I really appreciated the breathing space.Highly recommended and I cannot thank them enough for their service!

As A Child, we often visited PDSA in Ilford, close to where we lived, helped Dogs, Cats Duck, any pet in need, thus as I grew up and moved further north, often gave and shopped to help.A Wonderful helpline for sick animals, but when I found a stray cat that hunted on my patio sick and starving, with a broken rear hip, I tried to give it a can of Tuna on a plate, but it hopped away, then Fran dragging it's poorly limb.I phoned for help, but after half an hour trying to dodge advertisements to donate, I could only leave a message, but did get a call back, saying they could not help, suggesting I catch it, put it in a box and take it to Ilford (name derived from a ford across the River Roding, near a Lepperes sanctuary - still their today) or call a vets, so Not able to even find the cat, (could hear dogs barking in next gardens???) Tried to phone a vet we had spent over,£1k with, (but just died)... Answerphone, call again Monday. No real service to Sick Animals. it is my sons 29th Birthday today, he has spent over 7Years at Uni, LLM hoping to become a Human & Animal Barrister!!But who Cares nowadays, but we need a UK network of Animal Lovers (our best Friends) to spare time to aid, put the PDSA back together and for vets to donate more of their profit?

They don’t have a clue about animals. If you google what your pets feel you are more likely to get it right. Shocking lack of knowledge!

I’ve never left a negative on google but this important to give a true reflection on my experience and for my pet who’s left suffering by this organisation.Very disappointed! If I could give zero stars I would. Missed diagnosed my pet and provided the wrong medication for our pet claiming it’s was a different medication. They also booked my pet to a different vets as they couldn’t diagnose. They also said it the appointment will be in two weeks and also added if he makes it till then. Ive found another vets for a 2nd opinion who were horrified on how my pet had been treated. My impression from this company is to take your money and don’t have any care or interest in your pet.

After being let down by another local vet, these guys fitted us in within the same day. I was impressed with their professionalism and empathy. The veterinarian diagnosed the problem within a moment. Everyone I met there was polite and friendly. Delighted with the service. Thank you.
