Holidaying in our caravan. Stumbled across this very quirky tea room whilst visiting the castle. Had sweet pancake with apples and cinnamon breakfast tea, made with leaves, absolutely beautiful. What a place too superb views and amazing gardens great host. Definitely visit again next time we're in the area.

Gardens were pretty, a bit overpriced for what you see, I would say compared to bigger botanical gardens. Not quite sure what the vibe is. Website looks great and professional but experience felt quite different to what was expected.

A good little gem of a place. If you visit, you must try the cream tea. Comprising of 1 warm scone and a small dish of homemade jam and light whipped cream. There is a menu available selling homemade produce like omelette and various salads. As well as other homemade foods. You can stay for a small break as there are rooms available. The owners are nice. There is a small car park at the front of the building. This place has a lot of grounds and you can go on a long walk if you wish.Property is popular with walkers and cyclists.Although is frequented by lots of persons. If you have a sat nav, you will probably need it to find this place. Also if you want to visit this property, ideally you should check to see if they are open as it is a good drive. Check their website or Facebook page to check their opening hours.

Is this the best tea room ever? Probably. Looks like a private house (which, I suppose, it is) but on entering you will receive the warmest of welcomes. The quality of the food and drink makes a mockery of the inexpensive prices - the apple scones with apple jelly are to die for - and the comfort is such that you won't want to leave. Now regarded as a 'treat' for visiting family and friends. You'll love it.

Only a 2 day stay. Lovely polite and friendly hosts and a stunningly beautiful place to stay with wonderful gardens and good food. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately what spoilt my rating was the attention to detail that was missing. We had intended to see if it was possible to stay longer but changed our minds as we were unable to lock our things in our room whilst we were out. The guesthouse and our room were far too warm as the water heating ran under the floors and up the wall in our room and this was unable to be corrected. We were unable to keep the windows open without wedging a tissue box in the open window as the sash weights were missing. Luckily we always travel with an electric desk fan.The whole place was looking tired with a hole in the ceiling outside our room and what looked like evidence of historical damp. The crockery and cutlery were not the cleanest and the room was not checked daily for restocking of beverages etc. However fresh milk was provided each day in a fridge outside our room and I'm sure our hosts would have given us more tea coffee etc if we had asked. There was not a lock on the bathroom door and no hooks or enough rail to hang wet towels on. There were no toiletries provided except for hand wash and a shelf above the basin would have been useful as there was nowhere to put our own toiletries apart from the toilet cistern lid.The toilet had a noisy macerating system which kept operating whenever we used the toilet or had a shower or wash and the electric shower was unpredictable, running alternatively hot and cold. It also took a good few minutes to get hot water through the basin tap. There were not enough plug sockets in the room and no socket where the kettle and beverage tray was placed. We were able to rearrange some furniture in the room to allow us to use the kettle.I do not like to give a bad review but many of these disappointing things could be easily remedied with a little attention to detail.

Last visited 5 years ago. We took,a party of friends there for a cream tea recently which was superb. Environment is wonderful in a lovely part of the world. Better to go a bit later in the year so one can take advantage of the gardens.

Apparently both B&B and tea rooms are closed post-Covid - but DO check. - We visited the gardens but, even considering the 2 for 1 offer, we weren't impressed. There are some lovely parts of the garden, but if feels neglected and in need of tlc.

Stumbled on this lovely tea room and garden by accident as it's off the beaten track. Delightful and elegant tea room, the scones were wonderful, the tea brewed from leaves. The garden was beautiful, with wonderful views and lots of birds.

Great food, the scones and jam were excellent. Potted ham with cheese and toast was different but very tasty. Lovely setting - we sat outside in the garden, where it was quite and tranquil. Not bad prices either. Would go again.

It's ok. You feel kind of like you are visiting a neighbour down the road. Lovely gentle man (owner) comes to take orders and serve. They try to use all their own home grown produce. Beautiful setting.
