Best Hill in Edinburgh, much better than Arthur Seat (which you can see from here!).. could stay there for hours!

It is an urban green area with walks going round the park from west and east entrances with views if you want them and a small museum space too. There’s a garden with insect hotels, pictures of animals etc. The walks beside the burn are typical of such places, totally covered in ivy to the detriment of wild flowers. I walked from west to east going up the hill and down to the pond before going up and over the hill one last time. Glad someone is trying to remove the gorse up here.

Blackford Hill and Pond
A wonderful piece of the great outdoors 15 minutes walk from the heart of Morningside. The pond (with swans and several types of duck)) at the foot of the hill is easily accessible by anyone, while for those who fancy a climb there are epic panorama views of the city as reward at the top of the hill. The hermitage of braid trail which joins on to the hill is one of my favourite spots to escape the noise of the city, following a river running through a wooded valley.

Absolutely loved my walk here, the nature is beautiful it even has a little river. And that all in the city. It was very calm, there were many dogs but that made my walk even better! It’s definitely worth it to climb up the hill, it has a great view over the city.

Blackford Hill and Pond
Beautiful park with plenty walks which are great for dogs. We usually take our border terrier here at lunch time and he loves it.
