This father and son business is everything you would expect from an old fashioned well run butcher shop. Incredibly popular local business who have probably forgotten more about their trade than most people know.

Fantastic oldschool butchers, great sausages and was very understanding and helpful as I was on a tight budget. Only thing I can fault them for is it is impossible to get them on the phone but I wouldnt ever mark them down for it. Keep up the good work! :)

Bought three porterhouse steaks for a bbq today. Cut to my requirements, the butcher was incredibly helpful. I didn’t realise they only took cash and so I was £5 short. The butcher who served me was very obliging and said ‘bring it next time’. How were they? Abso-bloody-lutely choice. So tender and juicy. Highly recommend Ashby’s.Oh and I took the five quid in 2 hours later. Sorry no pics. Ate them too quick !!

This is our butcher of choice and has been for over 15 years. Always a friendly service, nothing is too much trouble. Our favourite is lamb shoulder in their minted marinade. They cut it to your preference and vacuum pack it for you too. Always chatty and great prices! Thanks Ashby's

Ashby's is the best butcher in the Southend area. The meat is always high quality and both butchers are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Last week they didn't want to sell me exactly what I wanted because it hadn't had chance to hang. Other butchers would have just sold it to me regardless. I trust these guys with what they sell. Well worth the trip to Southchurch!! Oh and their sausages are amazing too...nothing like the ones you get in supermarkets.

Proper Butchers. Meat prepared at your request. Clean and hygienic, meats well laid out and looking like meat not the pale joints you see strangled in plastic in supermarket chillers. Keep up the good service, thank you.

Their delivery driver KEEPS illegally parking across my drive (it's the alley next door with DOUBLE YELLOW LINES AND SIGNAGE TO SAY DON'T PARK). This stops us from being able to enter our property when using the car, or leave the property when using the car.The butchers clearly know this is going on, but do not care about the inconveniences they KEEP causing.Would not recommend buying from someone that cares so little about their neighbours.
