One of the best places I've been to in Edinburgh. We came from Peterborough for work and fancied something Desi, we were bored of always eating fast food on our trips to Edinburgh. The mixed grill was one of the best we have had, the lamp chops were juicy and lovely charring. The Koobedeh kebabs very well cooked, not dry and full of flavor. The chicken tikka was tender and so many restaurants over do the chicken to the point it becomes dry.The charsi karahi was nice and it grew on us. It was definitely authentic, just salt tomato and chilli's.We have decided our next visit, we will come Shinwari again. The waiter who served us, was brilliant and very attentive..I didn't quiet catch his name.Highly recommend and duas are with the business.

Food was exceptional, the flavours were amazing. The grilled platter was amazing. All elements cooked really well. The chicken curry was really tasty too and to finish off we had some desi chai.

Perfect location, easily accessible from all parts of the city. With cheap street parking available in front of the restaurant.Tasty Pakistani meals. Specially chicken dishes and Roti. Service is quick and professional. Environment is like a Pakistani wedding reception with ancient English building combination. Clean table clothes, napkins and cutlery with huge dinning space.

Very nice environment, most of the staff members were friendly. Food portions are smaller than said on the menu and food taste isn’t authentic Afghan. It’s kind of mix and match of different spices. We ordered lamb karahi and maghz karahi, these were more like curries than karahi.

Brilliant team and they were always around to look after. The food was very good (tasty) but not authentic. I would definitely come knowing the staff and food is good but I would know that I won’t be getting a taste of food from back home. The peri peri chicken was dry and the reason I’m taking 2 stars off. The garlic naan and tandoori roti were delicious.Again thank you staff who looked after us. Peri peri chicken let us down as it was very dry.

Husband loved the food. I found it to be tasty but a bit too spicy.Atmosphere was unpleasant with loud music and bright lights.

We had chicken Karachi. This was disappointing as it was more like chicken curry than Karahi. 20£ for 1kg . 2/5.Naan was good at 2 £. Large extremely satisfying and good.Biryanis was 10$ . Quite disappointing 1/5Chicken tikka with chips at 8£ was once again ok. Nothing special. With salad and chilli sauce.Drink was 1.5£ so not bad.Charged 1.50£ for packing for left overs!!!Overall there was a lot of hype about this place but nothing special. Keep trying other places. I wasn’t impressed.

We got there for a late dinner, but the staff was kind enough to provide a wonderful meal. Maybe the best samosas I've ever had and some delicious lamb and chicken dishes. Also, sesame naan, where have you been all my life!

It was a long walk from Princess Street to get here, but it was worth it. Thoroughy enjoyed the Chicken Biryani and the Lamp wrap. The decor is equally beautiful. Go visit with a good appetite.

Best Biryani I had in the UK. We had the Matka Biryani which was so succulent and just delicious. The Mango Lassi is also very good and reasonably priced.Totally recommend if you are looking for incredible Pakistani, Afghani or Indian food in Edinburgh.
