We stayed here for 1 night to attend a wedding at Cooling Castle. The manager is fantastic and drove us to the wedding venue and collected us at a time we chose, which was brilliant. The room was huge and very clean. The only downside was that the mattress was very uncomfortable, and we hardly slept as you could feel the other person turning over in their sleep and every movement woke us.The breakfast was amazing, but sadly, the smell of all the cleaning products while trying to eat wasn't appreciated as I felt like at times I was eating bleach as smell was so strong. But these things didn't make much of a difference, just an observation and hopefully something for them to consider. The checkout is very early at 9.30 am, and breakfast is from 9 am on the Sunday.. not very convenient after a wedding, and not being able to go back to your room after breakfast is also a hassle but fully understandable as guests want earlier check-ins to attend weddings. but it's still a shame that breakfast is earlier to accommodate the earlier check out.Overall, I would stay again.

Great place to stay for anyone heading to Cooling Castle for a function. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb and the shuttle service they provide to Cooling Castle is a very nice touch and saves the hassle of booking and waiting for a cab. Would definitely recommend

Great find in a quiet rural village. Rooms were clean & provided towels, tea etc5 mins from Cooling Castle Barn wedding venue - really should be on their recommended accommodation list. Welcoming friendly staff & great breakfast.Car park available. They offer a shuttle service to Cooling Castle if booked in advance.

I stayed at the six bells for a 2 night stay this week. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, the state of the hotel let my stay down. The carpets up the stairs leading to the bedrooms was absolutely filthy and smelly. Consequently, the old carpet attracted a swarm of flies. The carpet in the room was also olld and I did not allow my children to walk around barefooted. The mattress on the double bed was old and I did not get a good night's sleep as I could feel the springs. The breakfast was excellent, but we were constantly trying to protect our food from the swarm of flies. The chair coverings on the seats were very old and stained. I felt very unclean staying at this hotel and it was not worth the money. It needs to be shut down for a total refurbishment of the dirty and stained furnishings as this let's the hotel down, given the lovely location and great customer service..

This Saturday just gone (09/09/23) myself and hubby were at a Family party in Cliffe . So we booked a room at this lovely pub/hotel direct from the website which was really easy. When we arrived to check in we were met with lovely smiles and given all the info we needed for our one night stay. The room was very spacious and lots of cupboard space .A Good size tv perfectly positioned for watching in bed . With a large Fan cooling the room . The bathroom was also spacious with a lovely corner bath and a great shower . The bed was extremely comfy. After a good nights sleep we filled our bellies with an amazing Full English. The Menu also had the option to pick and choose what items you would like to be included in the breakfast . Everything was cooked from fresh accompanied by fresh uncut bread which we had toasted . We enjoyed our stay and will probably come back for maybe longer next time . :-)
