Waited 40 minutes to get a sign up form from reception. When asking again for a form, I was simply told to go the pharmacy next door and get one. It then took 2 hours for them to answer the phone in the morning to get an appointment (I was number 20 in the queue). The earliest appointment they could do was two weeks away at 8am in the morning only for them to cancel the appointment 50 minutes before.

Avoid at all cost!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Waited 1.5 hrs to speak to someone, then got told my symptoms are not severe enough to get any medication without seeing me. My whole household have the same chest infection but are at a different surgery who were prescribed antibiotics which has now cleared the problem. It’s unreliable and inconsistent GP surgery’s like this that are bringing the NHS down. I Have now changed surgery hopefully will get some help!AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!

So impressed with everyone at Montpelier Health Centre and have had very positive experiences whether with the navigator doing the initial phone assessment, the reception staff or the medical staff. All communication has been very respectful and they offer excellent patient-centred care.

Excellent service given the pressure they are clearly under. The reception staff (when you get through) are helpful and well informed. Both GPs I have dealt with over the last couple of years have been very good indeed. Talk through problems sensitively and knowledgeably. Always do what they say they will do.The only problem I have had recently is when I phone I am no longer given my place in the queue. Waiting for a long time is frustrating, although understandable these days, but now you are not told what you place in the queue is which makes it all the more frustrating.

It saddens me to see the 2* rating for Montpelier Health Centre, when the Care Quality Commission's assessment is 'Good'. Yes, it's hard to get through to book an appointment & then you're invariably number 20 in the queue but I've had occasion to book appointments at other Bristol Health Centres where, without exception, I've been 3rd in the queue! At Montpelier, I'm constantly struck by how unfailingly courteous the Reception Staff are, patiently repeating instructions where necessary.Given that it's a typical inner-city practice with a huge client base with diverse needs, I think GPs & support staff do an amazing job. Last month over 700 appointments weren't kept, which must be so dispiriting.C'mon people, let's support our local practice & give its hard-pressed staff some encouragement. I give them 5* for continuing to provide excellent, free NHS care under extreme circumstances.

Long waiting times to book an appointment, long waiting times once you get there unless you are seeing one of the nurses. Receptionists and nurses are lovely but not so much the GP's. Fortunately, my GP is great, when I can get an appointment with him.

As a new client, I can’t say I had a positive experience so far.I’ve been trying to book a gp visit by phone in the morning, got a busy line for about half an hour. No queue just literally had to call again and again.Tried to call back after 3, was in the quei for about an hour before someone took my call. They said I need to call back tomorrow at 8.I explained how I did try in the morning to no avail, and was expecting the same issue the morning after. They were not really listening and, after I insisted on my point, they literally hung up on me.Rude, terrible service, dysfunctional system for people like me working from early morning.

Whilst Montpelier Health Centre is struggling with a lack of appointments for everyday situations such as contraception, this doctors surgery will go above and beyond in your time of need. I had a situation where 111 referred me to Montpelier in the afternoon when there is typically no appointments, but Montpelier had an appointment for me within the hour... I checked in and was met by the doctor already waiting for me and was immediately looked over. The doctor made arrangements for the BRI to expect me and allowed me to wait in her room with her rather than the waiting room because of how ill I was.I know sometimes it can be frustrating to not get an appointment as easily as we would want for everyday issues and it can be easy to forget how many serious illnesses other people have and that Montpelier must prioritise them. But the level of care they offer when you need it the most is top tier and I think a lot of us, myself included, forget this!

My partner made an appointment to get advice about an unwanted pregnancy and was left in tears. The appointment was late and announced quietly over the tannoy with no directions. The Doctors tone changed when she found out she didn’t want to keep the pregnancy, then shamed her for wanting an abortion bringing her to tears, disregarded her mental health and made her feel like a fool for even going to the Drs. She disregarded all concerns about that and over health queries. My partner then asked about contraception options and was told to look it up her self. In the end was just told to just go to a clinic with no other advice given. Could’ve been completely avoided if they’d just said this on the phone when booking the appointment. Avoid at all costs.
