So disappointed to see how down hill this restaurant has gone this used to be the best chinease restaurant in Brighton to eat at, ginormous fish tank as you walked in with coy Carp immaculately clean and the portions and food was outstanding, I as an adult now wanted to book a dinner for my children to have a family meal but now will not be I hope they can get back to how they used to be about 10years ago.

When you order king prawns with spring onions and ginger, you don't expect a box of onions with 6 prawns, which is what I got. Very expensive and very disappointing, will not be ordering again ever.

Me and my family ate here last night, my girlfriend was severely ill after eating. Avoid at all costs. Had the salt and pepper squid/chicken chow mein. The worst Chinese food we’ve both ever had.

Ordered from here due to a recommendation from a family friend. Something must have changed since they ate from here because I’ve never been so disappointed in a takeaway in my life. Enduring eating the mountain of tasteless, rubbery, watery mess was truly one of the most difficult challenges I’ve embarked on. I failed. Not one part of our order tasted of anything pleasant and not one of us finished the meal. After the first mouthful I knew I’d just wasted the money on an expensive lesson. I couldn’t cook a worse meal if I tried, avoid at all costs because we tried to give it to the dogs and they were having none of it.

For years we’ve got a takeaway from the Castle Inn and it’s been fantastic but lately I’m a bit disappointed. One free bag of prawn crackers with a £60 order that now has 10 crackers in, it used to be huge! Buy an extra bag and it’s about £3!! And still tiny! Rice and chips have become extortionate, dishes have gone up to £7+ for chow mein to chicken dishes and quality is still good but this makes it a very expensive take away now especially once you add on a few bags of prawn crackers.Very disappointed in this decision as we’ll now go to a different takeaway. Such a shame

I read the previous comments before attending the establishment. I saw that many were quite old. As I was staying at the nearby Travelodge, I figured I'd give them a chance. Big mistake!Google showed their hours of operation from 1700-2200. Their website stated 1730-2200. I found this rather odd, especially for a weekend. However, arrived after 1730 to be told that they open at 1800, but offered to seat me anyways. There's a sign outside that states Open All Day. So this is a false statement.I proceeded to sit in the bar area. After ordering a pint and a double rum, went to sit down. The tables were absolutely disgusting! It was obvious no one had cleaned or even attempted to wipe down anything. For the venue not to have been officially open for about another 10-15min there was no excuse for this lack of cleanliness. The furniture was in complete shambles. Cushioned arm chairs had huge chucks of foam missing. Several tables looked like they were broken. My pint tasted like the lines had not been cleaned in months, and based on the feeling in my tummy, I'm most likely correct. Due to the filth inside, I went to the beer garden. It was a beautiful day. But once again. Highly disappointed. Overgrown grass at all of the picnic tables. The plastic tables and chairs were awful. There was extremely old animal waste under tables (dog poo that was completely white).Due to this level of cleanliness of tables surfaces and the atmosphere, I would be extremely hesitant on trusting anything from the kitchen. A trip to the Castle Inn, may also come with a bonus trip to A&E. Avoid!

Do not eat at this establishment. My soup had raw prawns in it. My noodles were old and stale. The food arrived cold and they’d missed my kid’s food off the order. They guy we spoke to had no interest in hearing about the issues and kept repeating that it was impossible the food was substandard. Avoid at all costs.
