The Little Fish Market
The food was exquisite, the service lacklustre given there were only 2 tables, ambience was non existent and I felt like I was at school with a 6.45pm start. It had the feel and lighting of a cafe where I might spend £15 not what turned out to be £150 a head. The parade of people (presumably kitchen staff) walking past our table shortly after we sat down further detracted from the experience. When I’m spending that much money I expect more of my surroundings and more attentive service. If you remove the wine from the table you shouldn’t wait to be asked to fill up glasses.

An absolutely beautiful experience with the most wonderful food and drink. It was a massive treat and we were left so inspired! The snacks were delicious, but the three fish courses were naturally the stand out. The slip sole was so tender that it fell away from the bone so cleanly, and it was so incredibly buttery and rich and just divine! We had the cheese course as well which was gorgeous. The wine flight is well worth doing too - who could resist a glass of champagne at the beginning of a special meal!? The ambience of the restaurant was calm and we felt very comfortable and able to talk as it wasn't too noisy. The service was efficient and we felt very looked after. We would absolutely love to come again and will be telling everyone we know!

I had one of the best meals of my life here. The chef has a genius for combining flavours into something really special. Let me give an example. The appetizers included a seaweed wafer flavoured with miso. On the wafer was ocean trout with a little oyster puree and some coriander. The rest of the meal continued in the same vein. Highly recommended!Came back again in 2023 and had another great meal. I really enjoyed the way the servings highlighted and supported the flavour of the fish. More than ever highly recommended for fish lovers.

Had high expectations but for “fine dining’ at 95 pounds pp, this experience fell short of other similarly priced restaurants. Better up front explanation of the dish ingredients and cooking philosophy would have helped. The egg like dish (note it was not egg) was odd given the dish description provided and it’s consistency was too watery. The mackerel dish was underwhelming. Deserts were excellent and restaurant ambience was very nice.

Really lovely food but very brightly lit and echoey like a canteen. Would be a hundred times better if they dimmed the lights and got some table lamps. What was supposed to be a romantic meal felt more like a parent teacher evening

Excellent food spread nicely throughtout the evening, if a tad pricey at £140pp with wine pairing, but this is fine dining".Nice that the chef (owner?) came and said hello before and after our meal and the two service staff were warm and attentive. The main issue is the basic cafe feel to the decor and furniture

I came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a fantastic evening. There’s an added excitement to the fact that everyone is experiencing the same dishes at the same time. Playful, unexpected plates are paced throughout the evening - we stayed for about 3.5 hours but it felt more like 1.5! It was great that the chef came out to speak to us too and present some of the dishes. Would definitely recommend it

When I lived just around the corner from this venue, I never once saw: a menu in the window, dining customers eating a meal, any customers at all, actually open for business. Things did change so someone was doing something on occasion.Apparently, there's no menus because you're not offered a choice. Of anything it seems. Customers all receive the same multi course tasting menu. There is only one dining time slot, 6.30pm. All customers must arrive on time, as all tables are served each freshly prepared course at the same time. I understand the concept, because you're being offered (subjected to) an experience likely to take a couple of hours whether you like it or not. I appreciate the amount of work, knowledge, passion, experience and skill that goes on in higher end kitchens, but any competent kitchen can serve twenty identical plates of food at the same time, it's less of an a la carte menu skillset needed and more a workflow efficient banqueting style of pre-prep, finish, plate, dress, and serve.Enough floor staff for swift service roll outs across the room like a wave - and if the first punter served finishes before the last plate is placed, you've misunderstood the concept of bulk prep, speedy plating and competent hands front and back.Dining as a customer, banqueting is my least favourite style of sevice. I resent being a prisoner to a kitchen's staggered timetable. That course of three bites of smoked salmon three ways with a foam, an emulsion and a spritz fizz was nice and fine but I'm not waiting 25 minutes between esch plate in a six course meal. Not for a hundred pounds a head I'm not.

The Little Fish market is outstanding. It's without doubt one of the best places to eat in Brighton and if you're a fish lover then it's a must go. Everything we ate was delicious and all the fish was perfectly cooked. The wine flight was so good. The service was first class. I can't wait to go back.
