Sub Tropical Garden
One never would have thought this fascinating Sub Tropical Garden was to be found at this place. Destroyed during war, later on - plants used for medicinal purposes and then gardens- reorganized. Fascinating!

Sub Tropical Garden
These were the first sub tropical gardens in the country. They were created in 1863 by Battersea Park’s first Superintendent, John Gibson. The Sub-Tropical Gardens disappeared during World War II when many of the gardeners had to go to war and much of the park became allotment gardens to grow food to help feed local people. In 1992 the Friends of Battersea Park planted a large palm tree, taking the first step in the recreation of the sub tropical gardens. Wandsworth Council supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund restored the Gardens to the original plans in 2004.

Sub Tropical Garden
Unfortunately due to the good weather, most of this garden was occupied by sun bathers and groups of people.
