Decided to visit this establishment today, Why wouldn't you when it has received a Gold Award? The cod was overcooked and the batter tasted like it had been cooked in really old oil. Even now an hour or more later I can still taste the little that I ate. I understand that sometimes things can go wrong but they surely should not have in this case. It was awful. Will not be going back there in a hurry. My stomach is now gurgling and I can still smell it. If the owner sees this I will explain why we didn't take the food back. The extra cost of driving there. The traffic is horrendous, and The time involved, What a huge disappointment and waste of money.So had a reply from the owners. . WOW. The purpose of leaving a review is to give an experience. They suggested I was trying to ruin their small business!! Why on earth would I want to do that? To suggest it is preposterous. Looking to see if I had left other reviews and found none they obviously did not look everywhere.!! I do not leave a review lightly. The reasons given were genuine. Not a thought of calling and asking for a replacement. when what we had just experienced was not a good one. The reply from them was not conciliatory. Quite the opposite in fact.

First visit for a while, we visited after the refurb and was not impressed, however been told by a couple of people that it's really nice, so thought we would try again. It was very nice food but the portion sizes are very small which is surprising from the other reviews on here. Maybe the person that served me was just very tight. The other complaint and the reason that I only gave 2 stars is that its very expensive compared to others chippy in the area. I understand that prices have increased and would not have minded so much if the portion sizes were bigger.So I recommend that if you want nice food but not that hungry and you have plenty of money then this is the place for you.

Tried to order over the phone told don't deliver on the weekend eventhough it's a Friday they may have won awards recently won't bother wirlth them again

Best fish and chips in Coventry hands down. Battered the fish to perfection. Lovely chunky fillet of fish.

Portion sizes are huge, the family couldnt finish the large portion of chips. All tasty and well cooked. Great price too. We had fish, Donner meat and chips in a tray. One minor gripe is the shop is very small and not really enough space to queue. Wouldn't be a problem in the summer as you can stand outside and wait, but in the dark winter months this might be a bit of an issue.

Been using this shop since the present owners took over..this is now the 3rd time the order has been wrong in the recent months + pies cold you order scallops you get chips..... Charlie's plaice sewell hwy from now on..............

we travel down from glasgow every night and found dillon’s had a mixed kebab & chips the food was great chicken so tender & the kebab meat was delicious the staff where really friendly & welcoming now we have found the place we will be back keep up the good work dillon’s
