Safestore Self Storage Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird

I rented a storage unit to store our belongings between moving homes. I was really happy with the customer service to begin with and believed my items were going to be safe and sound whilst stored. I also took out their insurance option for the items stored as they were our special belongings and furniture.Sadly when we went to collect our items it quickly became apparent that the roof had been leaking above our unit. Many of our items were damaged and a few couldn’t be saved. Luckily our mattress soaked up a lot of the water however some irreplaceable items of furniture and art are now damaged forever.I approached the staff there to resolve the issue and start the process of claiming for the items. We understood that things do happen and mistakes can be made. Frustratingly the staff member was almost aggressive, no apologies were given and small print started to get read out to us. It was shocking for us to lose so many items that we believed were safely stored and receive absolutely no apology.At this point we had no option but to pack up our damaged items and head to our new home as it was over 250miles and a ferry away. The staff member kept repeating that if we take any items we couldn’t claim but we had no choice! All while this was happening both of the lifts were inoperable and myself and other customers using the storage facility had to dangerously carry items up and down the stairs.Since we picked up our items we’ve been trying to claim on the insurance we took out with safestore. The claim is still on going after a very lengthy and unhelpful process. The insurers seem to be more interested in keeping their partnership with safestore rather than representing my interests and claim fairly. We only wished we had taken out independent insurance.It’s so sad our items were damaged and no responsibility has been taken for it. Be really careful using safestore!

The customer service when we arrived was very welcoming and kind.But today when I went to return my access fob the manager Andy Beckett was quite aggressive and rude, he refused to give me a letter stating the termination of the contract.I mean you sign a contract to use the property and when you are leave you would expect a proof say that you have left. He said very irratated that I am the first person to ask for a confirmation of termination.When I insisted he threw a piece of paper without logo on the table in front of me where he had written that I had given it back. I asked for an official paper but he said we don't have this. And that this is not their policy.I then said that I would like an email because that comes from the company email he blew hot air like why is she complaining and bothering me.He eventually sent an email, but I was really disappointed int he service I got.

Everyone who I have dealt with at this company have been really nice and polite, extremely helpful and nothing has been too much trouble. Gordon at Fortkinnard today sorted everything out when he realised (just by looking at the size of the van on camera!) that the storage space wouldn’t be big enough (he was right) and within minutes sorted me out a larger space with absolutely no fuss at all. Would definitely use and recommend this company. Thanks.

Great service from Chris and the team. Price is competitive. Site is easily accessible from city bypass. Storage site is secured (I was given a fob to enter the gate). Assess is not 24 hours but long enough for my needs. You need your own lock for your locker or you can but one from the office.

So handy to have this facility near where we live. My wife and I rented some storage space while our house was being renovated. Easily accessed seven days a week and very helpful staff, especially when the lift was out of action for 10days. Would certainly use again.

Shoddy, negligent, hard to use and expensive. Do not use! Lift broke down and they did not tell us, said they could not email because of data protection but they could bill us by email fine. Customer handling is pushy and complacent. They did hire porters but quadrupled the work. Goods lift does not allow people in, making use extra work. Stairwell frequently had water on it, very dangerous, prob breach of licence. Loading car park steep slope so trolleys want to escape down the hill, tarmac in bad repair so tipping risk. Lights in storage go out within a minute so you cannot see to find things or rearrange. Shoddy, negligent and hard to use and expensive. Go elsewhere!

Very good location to use as short-term storage with easy access and good opening hours with late nights on Thursday. Clean and organised.

Two stars for the facilities . No stars for the rude attitude of Gordon. I assisted a relative with putting some stuff in storage. Gordon got me in the photograph without my consent when I asked him not to . He was rude and unpleasant , told me to Get out the way then. !!!’As if it was my fault that he couldn’t take a proper photo or communicate much better then many inhabitants at a zoo. Was rude and less then surly through out , approached a different tone with my relative who had a Professional tittle and wasn’t wearing a High Vis.Also claimed the door weren’t locked up on the second occasion. But I double checked it and it was tight . All in all unfriendly and snotty front of house unless they cotton on that you’re a pro. Kelly at HO didn’t seem bothered about the rude conduct .

the storage place is great . my stuff was in storage for over 6 months and it was well protected During that time they have upgraded the lift and the toilet . overall it was good to know my stuff was safe
