Purves Puppets - Biggar Puppet Theatre
We had a nice light homemade lunch before the puppet show which our 2 yr old loved. She manage to sit through the 1.5 hr show with a 15 min. interval. She was delighted to sit with 2 of the puppets while I took her photo at the end. No charge. We bought 2 puppets while we were there: 1 a small but delightful finger puppet for £5 which she played with all day. We are booked into the Christmas show. Beautiful small Victorian style puppet theatre with capacity of about 100.

Absolutely fantastic gem of a place, have had a few visits now. Always made to feel welcome, cafe area and puppet shop are lovely.Pips and Panda at the Mermaid pool was magical and my niece absolutely loved it from start to finish as did my mum and I.Be sure to also check out for dates for the behind the scene tours which are very informative where you learn the history of the theatre, some secrets to behind the scenes and the hard work that has gone into the various elements including a go at operating some of the puppets.The museum tour is also worth going on, the puppets will stir nostalgia in anyone with familiar television puppet personalities and pelham puppets on display aswell as tradition Punch and Judy sets and styles of puppetry from various parts of the world.Already booked my future visit for May to see Snow White.Yours PuppetuallyT

I used to visit Purves Puppets every year, on the run up to Christmas, on a school trip. Now, I have the pleasure of taking my own children to the same theatre. It’s just as magical as it was when I was a child. There’s nothing else like it.
